Catching catfish in lakes...

I'm going to be fishing a lake for catfish in about a week. I do a lot of catfishing on rivers, but am not sure if it requires the same tactics, baits, and rigs in lakes. If anyone could help me out here, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks <><

Whenever I've fished for cats at a lake I tend to use a slip bobber and let the bait drift just above bottom.(usually livers) Whereas in a river if I'm wading I'll only use a bobber to drift through slack water. I used to wade the Fox in IL. a lot drifting livers with no weight for cats.

Would dead minnows or cutbait work too?

Sure, as I said though I like to get it off the bottom a bit so the scent can disperse better.

try livebait w/ the tail clipped . put a sm. glow lure like a pimple above it to add weight and draw them in.

In lakes I use Wicked Sticky stinkbait and an egg sinker so the baitworm will move. Use a stinkbait worm with a treble hook. Good fishin' boys
