West Lake in Davenport

Hello all me and my daughter are going camping at west lake and was wondering how the fishing from shore is?  Can we do ok with just bobber and worm?   If not what would you guys suggest?  We mainly do ice fishing so this summer stuff is all new to us.  Any advice is greatly appreciated.
