New to this site. I’ve been fishing g Sacandaga for 3 years now focused on walleye. Not much activity on this thread but thought I could add.

Last Friday north near Day: caught them transitioning from deep water just before dark. Mostly shorts, some keepers. Lasted for about 45 min. Nothing on bouncers, all with jigs. Same pattern the prior week but they were a bit larger. Will be glad when the water drops a bit.

You seem to have found a pattern that is working for you. As the lake warms and drops you may see some change in your pattern but catching them now is a good thing. Early season has always been hit or miss for me. Good Luck....h2l

Nice JPB. Thanks for the report.

So I was banking on a trip tomorrow afternoon in case the weekend weather turns sour or my to do list grows. That said, My first mate bailed so I probably won’t be going.  :( Solo trips always seem to turn stressful on me.

Heading out in a couple hours. First, have to get the Jeep inspected. This will be my first trip of the year, but I will give you a report anyways....lol. I fish alone most of the time just so I don't get stressed...h2l

Got on the water about 10am. Boated 7 walleyes and lost 2 at the boat. I guess I am not fast enough on the net. Five of the ones I put in the boat were keepers. 18 inches was the biggest. Didn't keep any. Water temp 62* out in the lake. Marked very few. Even the ones I was catching didn't mark them. Caught fish from 12 fow down to 32. Had the most action between 11am and 1pm. All on jigs and color didn't seem to matter it just had to be on the bottom and not moving much. Bite was light....h2l

ps..Not a bad start of the year for me.

Good Job H2L. I just got home from daga myself. Didn’t do squat trolling sticks.  Marked a lot of fish but all we got were a few Smallies. I guess I still need to learn a thing and start jigging! Maybe next trip..
