I'm a Cuse fan also and typically the undefeated team gets No. 1 which unfortunately is usually the "kiss of death" as it was to the last few #1s. And yes I agree that doesn't mean that they are better than Ohio State with Sullinger playing but certainly gives us all something to talk about. Cya....

With Sullinger hurt, there is absolutely no way Syracuse could be anything but #1... I'm amazed it was debated.
The 'Cuse rolls DEEP this year. Their top 5 bench players would be starters in much of the NCAA.

OSU recieved 7... Pretty wide margin for the time being. And surely not a barn-burner, nail-biter, controversial assessment.
Time will tell, of course. Conference play in the Big East is a roller coaster. I think most people in the Northeast can agree there.

How is everyone?....just seeing if anyone is still fishing and here is my favorite topic at this time of year. The Cuse is really good this year.....it is kinda like splitting hairs between SU, NC, Kentucky and OSU. If there was a final four with these teams it would be a different winner each time. All about match ups.

Adam....remember last year moronetti was negotiating with a major network for a big east football contract worth billions of dollars. He was not a leader in the negotiations and then he let Notre Dame vote along with the other big east football schools. Notre Dame already has their NBS billion dollar contract that they do not share with the big east. Notre Dame voted not to accept the terms and negotiations were terminated. Obviously football rules since it makes all the money and he blew it. It will be impossible to recruit five star recruits for big east schools in the future if the recruit is not on television and playing big boy schools.
Darryl Gross was proactive in stabilizing SU athletics by getting us in the ACC. Could you imagine if SU was still in the big easy with Navy, Depaul, Providence, OCC and Herkimer????
Sorry for the boring rant.....I love SU sports and we really gotta tip our hats to Gross for this.

Good and valid point, Ed. But it wouldn't be the Big East without some playground basketball!
As long as they keep that stuff within league play and don't try to fast-break every ACC and SEC team in the Big Dance they should be golden. I don't think I have seen an SU team as patient as this in my lifetime. And I have been following them for 30yrs+.
Most of my family are SU grads. I'm the only dumb one who had to go to Cortland State :D
(Apparently there isn't much scholarship money for high school pole vaulters... Go figure!)

While he was in high school, we visited some SUNY campuses and talked to several professors and I developed a real respect for the SUNY system. The professors there seem as dedicated as anywhere, and the campuses were quite impressive.

Haha, thanks Bud. My SUNY education has served me very well, actually. I just took my time :D My degree provided me with an eight year career with the National Park Service and now a five-year run as an Ecologist in the sports industry (golf courses and MLB/NFL stadiums).
Both of my sisters (older) spent plenty of time at SU and then went on to Ivy Leage post-grad (Cornell and Penn, respectively).
They do well for themselves, I just took a different path. And my loans are all paid off already, they are both still over $30k in the hole :o
Thats said, I will always be a fan of SU hoops. Just like most of Upstate NY, I suppose!

Eagle Ed...could you clarify streetball. SU is best at fastbreaks and alley oops from the turnovers they create.....and if that is streetball then we have been doing it all along. SU is not that great in the half court offense. The players attention span is about as long as mine is ;D The 2-3 zone is def not streetball but a defense that takes alot of time and thinking to get into the zone of the zone. This is a fun team to watch and they are very good and if a team is to beat them it will be from slowing the pace to a crawl which is awfully hard to do against this team.
Revenge on Buzz will be great today...hopefully :P

Well Orangemen really playing great basketball with not much left on the schedule to give them trouble for an undefeated regular season. Only see three possible problems in Notre Dame (because they get all the home calls from the referees), U. Conn (because they can match-up, but don't have the depth) and suprisingly Rutgers (they can be tough at home especially with the influence of all those New Jersey bookies). Louisville showed how overrated they were when Providence spanked them and Villanova is still a year away with all their young players.
West Virginia could have been a good opponent, but Dalton Pepper (great outside shooter/Pa Player of the Year in 2009) left for Temple and will play there for his last two years starting next year.
Jimmy - Cortland is a great school and showed my school (Lycoming) how to play some football in the Division III football playoffs a few years back.

Wishin for warm weather and the boat floatin on Oneida...can't get into ice fishing this year for some reason? I look at the vex and shanty all the time but have little ambition for some reason. I have not felt the "tug" for alongggg time.
SU looked good the other night. Melo might blow our chances at a good run to the NC game....only the school knows what is really going on but the signs are not good for a return this year. Even though X-mas played great the other night Melo is the anchor to the zone and on offense he opens up the drives and sets some serious screens. Without the turn overs the fast break transition points are not there.
Let's get real and acknowledge that it is all about money and SU has a great product. How did this slip thru the cracks? Melo won't be a neuro-surgeon so let him play and earn his Rhetorical Studies diploma and call it good

I scored a free ticket to the SU v. St Johns game at MSG next Saturday, I am looking forward to it.
Should be a fun weekend in the City, with the G-Men in the Super Bowl on Sunday!

Didn't see any comments regarding the missed call on goal tending by the officials. Knew they would miss Dalton Pepper and his three point shooting, but didn't think they could hang with the Orangemen through the whole game. Nothing much on the schedule until the NCAA Playoffs to worry about except a possible sleeper in Rutgers down there. St. Johns is a joke so I'm sorry Jimmie, but you will see a blowout even at MSG. Great place to watch a sporting event and I was lucky enough to watch the last sporting event at the old MSG (Rangers vs. Red Winds). Although there was the Westminster Dog Show the next day at the old arena.

3 point shooting and rebounding was killing them. I just don't understand why they don't feature Joseph and Waiters in the 3 sec. area more. when they do, those two are plenty strong enough to move people and get shots.

Eagle.....As you know SU has always struggled down at the RAC. It has always been a mystery to me since that place is a glorified high school gymnasium and only a handful of good players has went through the program.
If SU drops another game or two prior to the BE tourney and they make it to the BE Championship game then it should not hurt their seed in March. THey should be a one seed. I cannot explain my calmness this year but they could run the table from here on out. I would love to see them play Marquette again.
Kentucky/Florida tomorrow night will be a good game to watch. We can kind of compare but Florida was without thier big when they played SU....can't come up with his name?

yup cincy shooting 8-10 three pointers in the first half really hurt, free throws really hurt too, thats my biggest complaint. i think it is good for the team that they lost . get some rest and prepare for what really counts . number 1 seed no matter what , so better it happened now then in 2 weeks

Cincinnati basically had 4 point guards on the floor for most of the game. That was the factor in them getting the open 3 point shots.
SU will not face a team that is structured like that in the NCAA tournament. Back to a smothering zone, forcing turnovers and fast break scoring !

Yup. I think its because you have 3 guys( joseph, scoop, waiters) all trying to be THE MAN ( aka go to guy/ team leader). So when it gets down to the wire they all try forcing it to much. Ill tell you what, im not a fan of that scoop, waiters, and trishe at SF combo they played for like 6 mins yesterday. Lets hope we dont have to see that ever again.

Fair had 2 points, Jardine scores 8 pts and has 3 assists in 2 games, Joseph 000000000 rebounds in 33 minutes , In 2 games the Seniors shot 6 for 23 (26 %) These are not numbers you put up in the month of March and then say in the paper that you don't know what was wrong or that "I need to be more aggressive". How can you not be more aggressive in the semis of the Big East Tourney in Madison Square Garden with half the country watching. I have been a Syracuse fan for 50 years but with this leadership I don't see them coming close to winning the National Championship. I certainly hope I'm wrong. :-\

I totally agree with the 3 junk shots in the 1st half , what worries me is that JB will stick with his seniors no matter what , why not put MCW in yesterday when Scoop and Trisch were playing like poop ??? ??? ??? ??? I mean the kid plays great every time he gets any run and is the only guard who knows how to feed the post . Fab should get 10 shots a game every game and KJ should post up like he did against UConn more , huck 3's and hope is not what got us 31 wins , drive to the hoop and put pressure on the opponent's big's . Waiters played great , everyone else was on vacation . I hope Jimmy B looks at the pre BE schedule and gets that rotation back instead of his 7 man stable .

What a game, hard to believe they scored over 60Pt's against such a strong defense. Well my bracket is pretty much shot and I am sitting here with a smile on my face . It's to bad their had to be a loser in this game.Both teams were were outstanding in all fascists of the game.I just could not believe the 3's that they were hitting under incredible defensive and CUSE would come back and answer every time.Four players were in double figures.And how about THE ZONE,it was super active.The game was a true JOY to watch. SU and OS looks to be another barn burner. GO CUSE!!!!!

I completely aggree , this is one heck of a season and tourney . I am proud of our team for all that they have overcome this year ... Jimmy B said after the game that any other time an opponent hits 14 3's we would have lost , it didn't even faze our guys . Scoop's smile after that shot late in the game to tie it spoke volumes for this whole team's attitude , they were every bit as happy to be a part of this game and to meet another challange as we fan's were to watch it . My wife was a trooper last night with four "grown" men yelling for two hours and then jumping around like school girls high fiving....of course she was leading the way a few times with the yelling and high fives. What a fun team.....OSU is going to be a challenge.

It's a dam& good game so far! OS is no lightweight & :bowdown: :bowdown: to SU playing as well as they have without Melo, man with him it would not be so entertaining. Kudos to the rest of SU for stepping up

They did ok without Fab. They could have won that game. The officials called a lot of touch fouls on both sides.
They made a good run. That is the best SU season we have ever seen and probably ever will see as far as wins.

Couldn't believe all the fouls they were calling......seemed one sided to me, but might be just my perception!!!!!!! Great season anyway.. ;D

They had a great season and it was a good game. The refs called touch fouls both ways in the second half, the only bummer about that was you did not get to see the players shine in the second half. We had our chances but 4 turnovers in a row, 4 of 16 3's, and some missed foul shots sealed our deal. I had more fun watching this group of players than a lot of teams we have had up their.
Now it is time to fish ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
