Title: So what's your low round for the year?
Post by: Pikeguy on Jul 20, 2005, 12:35 PM: Just curious how any of you fellow golf nuts are playing this year. I shot my low round ever of 76 last week. :D

On a side note, I did score a 9 in beers and a 7 in lost balls. Hmmmm, I wonder if there is a correlation??

Been ot several times this year during the jan warm up on a closed public course in buffalo, shot like a 4 over for nine, but it is a wide open course~

Post by: bigredfishing on Mar 29, 2006, 04:11 PM: I shot 1 under par at a pitch&putt once ;D. Man I used to golf a ton. One summer my father and I went almost every day. Walked 9 holes - I started to get reasonably good by the end of that summer.

I've since decided that my money and time are spent on better things - like fishing and such related items ;)

Hmm. My best round so far this year...well how about that last time I went...I shot a 36 on a par 30 9 hole course.

Back in my hay days when I was a scratch golfer, my best round ever was a 4 under 68 at a course located in WNY. Like I said, that was back when I played 5 or 6 times a week. I'm lucky to get out 5 or 6 times a season now. Still manage to shoot low 80s but if you don't play, you're not gonna score.

See what getting married and having kids will do to your handicap?

Usually shoot mid 90's. Note the foot wedge might be the most used club in my bag!!

I got out yesterday evening and got in 7 holes after work for the first time this year. Some good shots and some well, big high hooks too. :o :o I'm heading out here in just a few to do it again. :thumbup_smilie:

How'd it go? I play today at 3:45 again. Should be a sober round...nursing a hangover. lol Gives me a better chance at playing well ;)

We had to play the front nine twice since the ground's crew was airifying the back nine so my score wasn't official. I ended up shooting a 4 under 68 with a stupid 3 put boggie. I sure wish the whole course would have been open so I could have went after my all-time low :'(.

Post by: Pikeguy on Apr 17, 2006, 10:19 AM: Got out Friday afternoon and played better. 42 on the front 9 and 2 birdies helped me to a 38 on the back :) Played a new course on Sat. and played terrible on the front but drove a par 4 in one to go back to back birdies and almost went 3 in a row but I missed a 6 footer :-\

Got out for 18 yesterday in the morning before I fished and made an eagle on a par 4 from 150 out. The kind you love..big high draw...landed soft and just rolled in ;D Then I drove a par 4 and just missed an 8 footer for what would have been another eagle :o Would've been sweet ;)

Tou card my arse. I still shot 88! :'( lol 38 on the front and 48 on the back. Should have been good, but I got the shanks out of no-where on our #1 hardest hole, made a 9 and things went downhill. lol. Shanks suck! >:( I'm an 11 handicap and 88 doesn't cut it ;D

Funny you say that. My dad started this. He's pretty good and early last year he developed them. It's a condition I'd never seen and obviously found quite humorous. ;)...Till I got them once last year. Not Fun! This year he's been better, then last week I hit 2 in a row, told him, generically, that I hit "2 bad shots in a row" he got the hint, got mad at me for mentioning them, and proceeded to hit two of his own. lol Not only are they contagious....I'm afriad they may be genetic :o :'( :'(

I had a lot of distractions shooting my 111. Like getting dumped out of the cart, having my buddy hit the reverse button in the middle of my backswing, playing behind someone who probably shot a 111 for 9, and lots and lots of beer. Golf is fun. ;D

Been to two and they shank, slice and hit the ball fat just like us.
Its what they do on the rest of the hole that separates us from them.

Pike if your an 11 thats great, have a couple of buddies who don't fish that shoot that well.
I have too many hobies and not enough time.
Iam a 16-19 depends on my last rounds and how they add up.
After a few blow up I may be a 23. or I may be sandbagging for some tourney money.
We play in a once a month league at four different courses. Great monthly event, end up winning a few skins here and there but never a long drive??? Can't seem to find the short grasss when its deep!

Played last night and shot a pair of 43's :-\ Couldn't get myself into a rythym and my timing was off. Dipping one shoulder and pushing the ball. Can't make a putt. etc :-\ :'( It'll perk up one of thesee days though. That's the beauty of golf ;)

That's when the foot comes in handy. ;) ;)

My max is always double par per hole, then I move on.

Played a Trent Jones course Glen Oaks and shot a 110 with 25 MPH wind and sunday pin placements on monday?????
Guys I played with were cusing left and right when they saw the pins on breaks and on the edge of the greens.
Guess it will help the handicap!!

I guess if I think back ten years to being single...... there were weekends where I would play golf AND hunt or fish....

Playing with two superintentens from private course and a salesmen who is a neighbor. Iam the second low man( high score). Last few years we have finished in the top three. Lost to insane cheating scores, Thats what I hate about those scrambles cheating city, were just going out to get BUZZZED and whack a little aggravating ball around, hopefully make some good shots.

Yeah I have three boys and they are 2 4year old and one four month, golf is low on the priority list!

Hopefully the doubles :P or worse - will stay off my score card.

d**n doubles..I played 27 last Sunday with NOT ONE DOUBLE and shot 39-40-39....then Wed night I had a couple crappy holes and a few doubles and boom...87 >:( Doubles kill >:( ;)

Well done with the 27 bogey free - thats fun golf ;D

I think the worst thing is compounded mistakes :-\ Hit a poor tee ball on a 4 par, then get back for an 3rd shot approch to play for bogey - and miss the approch :-\

even worse - then chipping on in 4 and three jacking :cursing:

Of course I could be facing that tommorow morning :P

We came in second the last two years to a mystery team. Never seen one guy from it? So we had to ask for the cards after we came in second with a -9. Seems there was a tie, the bar owner is a good guy but always screws around, NOT FUNNY!

Played 18 last night..played frustration remover golf the first nine..hacking out a 48 ;D. Felt a little better so I buckled down and shot 38 on the back. ;D

;D No, I'm just the boss and I can do what I want :D She is still 5 over hanging in there. They just ran through her day so far and she hit a couple into the water and got some bad breaks. She's not out of it though.

Changed my grip from an interlock to an overlap yesterday and what a difference that made. I have played an interlock grip for 20 years and have always considered the change and I'm glad I did. ;) Can't wait to go again.

Congrats Slip...nice round. Putting....I changed from a conventional to a modified version of "the claw" Improved my confidence, in turn, improving my game. Now I switch back and forth as I feel the need and consider myself a much better putter ;D

Yikes! I played a course last year with a bunker like that. Didn't hit into it....but I tossed one in after I finished the hole just to try it out....actually did alright too ;D Wouldn't want it in competition though!

Carpcatcher (Jim) is the one to go pro....definitely not me!!! 4 over is my best 18 ever. I'll be shooting no -2 anytime soon. But last week, I went par-eagle-birdie-par-bogey to recover from a 9 on a par 5 and save a 40 after being 6 over after 3 holes. lol ;D Just can't get it together ;)

So I went from potential eagle to bogey. I was so upset. I could have thrown my putter into the woods.

Yeah that sucks. I actually drove a par 4 pin high to 10 feet and made the putt for a change Wednesday. Then I had 7 straight pars on the back nine then a double ::)

Very rarely do i get all my clubs on my side. I shot a 45 at Peak and Peek in NY on the upper course this past weekend. Which is pretty good for my game. They even hold a PGA event on this course.......although the rough is much lower than when the pros play it lol.

These guys were crazy good. They'd bounce the ball of the rail Thru the clowns mouth down the shoot over the bridge.....you get the idea....and in the hole. most of the time they'd get a hole in one but never a three. Anyone ever see putt putt on TV before?

Yes I remember seeing putt-putt on TV back in the early 70's but Kelso wasn't playing. ;D

I dropped 4 strokes in 4 weeks >:( Now I have to try even harder because one of my goals was to get down into single digits and I'm close enough that I'll have to give it a go :-[

We were having a match play tourney at our course this past weekend and yesterday was the individual matches. It started on #1 and my opponent birdied(down 1, here we go)I proceeded to birdie #2 (all square) we tied 3 and then I birdied the next 5 holes :o. I only made 1 par on the front (36) with 6 birdies and 2 bogies for a smooth 32. I ended up finishing the match after 15 holes so I didn't finish the round but was 2 under with 3 holes to play.

This guy that always played with my father would do the opposite - after a good round my dad would say "let me put that in for you Bill" and the guy would say "oh no Ray, I can take care of it".

It still make me laugh thinking about it - funny to me anyway ;D

Well I did not feel it at Tobacco Road. :( I was up and getting ready to leave the crib when the phone rang, and it was my boy who made the tee time - and he pretty much partied hard all night with one of the other guys in the foursome, and bagged Lindz at the last minute.

It sucks because we had a coupon for after 2:00pm for 35$. :'(

I shot a 43 on the front which is my second best score for 9 this year then followed it up with a 53 :pinch:. Thanks to a strong front side we ended up at 13 under. We had a four way tie for first and pocketed $60 for each team member. OH yeah I also won a new golf bag as a door prize. ;)
