fishing for summertime browns in reservoirs
« on: Jun 08, 2007, 04:06 PM »
I am basically new to reservoir trout fishing, I have caught some good size trout during colder water periods but I have always heard that during the hot days of summer trout go too deep for shore fisherman.  My question is can I still catch brown trout in reservoirs from shore, and is there anything I would need to know about?  Thanks in advance!   8)

I always try and find where they sitting in thermocline which is easy if you have a fish finder. Some  Browns can sit deep in it if they want  but will also travel out of it for periods of time usually first light and well after the sun sets. If there are any springs at all in the res. they would most likely be found around it  also. Any kind of cool moving water like spring creeks by chance droping off into or near  much deeper water than to whats typical to the shoreline around it would be a target area too.
