Interesting idea Trapper...bobber jigging fly rod style. You're always thinking ;D

You don't do dry's Jay? I've been working on my Catskill style dry's a bit. The only fly so far that gave me trouble in the Danvise. The jaws just don't seem to have enough clearance around the head for the delicate stuff. I've been half looking for a vise just for dries.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

RG

I do, but not alot. A good percentage of my fly fishing is wets and emergers on the Delly system. I like to break the water down and keep moving swinging wets - "the tug is the drug". I will bust out some true drys when the time is right.
I really dont enjoy tying them, lol. Still hard to beat a good old Adams pattern in a few diff colors and sizes...

Are they coming off the pond (lake)? The streams around here are back to near flood stages and a muddy soup color. We could get another inch of rain today and the ground is totally saturated. They're gonna get flushed again. Man I'm getting anxious.

Guess I'll have to go get some sunnies off the docks or something.

Look for hardened steel jaws and the ability to hold a wide variety of sizes of hooks.
The cheap vises tend to wear out the jaws quickly due to them not being hardened.
I have a Renzetti Traveller that has hardened jaws, rotates and I have used it to hold hooks from size 12 to 5/0.
I don't tie any really small stuff, so haven't gone any smaller than that but it would probably work with much smaller flies.
They make a set of midge jaws for it if you are into tying itty bitty little flies for stillwater trout fishing though.   ;)
