Had a flying squirrel glide down and land right in front of my face just before i started climbing my climber up the tree...I felt the wind from the lil bugger, he stopped to stare long enough for me to get my headlamp on and then scurried up the tree. Heard an owl and spooked a 4 pt. It was great to be in the woods again. Good luck to all.

I hunt a few small blocks of private land and there is lots of pressure on neighboring properties so I stay out of the woods til November...seems to have been working well for the last 10 years and when I start to hunt I hunt at least 6 days a week til the very end it is bow only zone.....good luck this weekend fellas

That's smart hunting PP. Bucks around my place are still in bachelor groups. They have been using an 80 acre standing corn field for cover. Early in the morning you can find them in the open hay fields sparing. Very tough to hunt them with a bow. Once the corn gets cut, they'll go back to the woods.

My daughter got her shot. Three doe came in but she got so excited she missed. Shes bummed but now want to practice all the time which is a good thing. Ive been out twice so far but was lucky enough to let the air out of a nice doe. Fresh jerky and sausage everywhere but i need to work on my summer sausage...tastes like catfood

I shot a doe last night with black powder. Luckily it was a short track and I found her before that storm rolled through!

Wow PP. 700 lbs. of meat that must have been a heck of an Elk and Muley!!!

I think your approach is a good one though. Stay out of the woods until it is time. Over the years I have found that less is more. Meaning I see more deer when I hunt less.

First time I have ever eaten elk and mule deer man is it good the Italian sausage he had made is excellent...the elk he shot was 800 plus pounds and the mule deer was 250 something he had a lot of ground made up and pork added real good eats
