If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Rg sure the snowman will become a treasure holiday item by your daughter. Glad your having fun with all the various wood projects. Have you had a chance to get your grandson into the shop.

Thanks,
My Grandson just turned 16. He's got a lot of  things on his mind other than hanging out in the wood shop with Grandpa.

I understand my nephew is 19 and the two of us have no real common interests.

Well, he's a busy young man. Girls, 3 different soccer teams, straight A student and he just turned 16 so he'll be learning to drive. He's a good kid. I couldn't ask for a better Grandson.

Just finished a couple game boards. One for myself and a Christmas gift for my son. The game is called Tak. Simple but strategic.
Rock maple tiles with Sepele mahogany cross pieces. The boxes are cherry.

Made bags for the pieces and printed out game instructions.

The pieces on the right are oak and cherry, left are Sepele and maple.

They play board games a lot. I'm sure they'll enjoy it.
Fun project.

Rg like the snowman think this game will become a treasured gift to your son. Also my congratulations to your grandson for having such good grades and playing for 3 different soccer teams.

Started working on the Incredible Marble Machine. So far I've worked up a lifting device, made a fixture to create track and turned a couple of wooden puppets. I ordered a motor and  a big batch of 3/8" precision ball bearings.

I'm on vacation till next week so I have plenty of time to tinker. I'll post some pics when I get the lifter built.

Not near as much as I do👍
Silly , isn't it. A 20 hour a week, walk around the store and talk to people job, and I get 3 weeks paid vacation.

Those were pulleys I turned....not puppets. Stupid iPad spell anticipation.

Soldered up a tower for the lifting contraption. Picked up some glass marbles at a craft store yesterday to do some preliminary tests. The tracks roll very well. Couldn't verify the pump operation. The marbles are around .446 and the bearing balls will be .375. Found that my little soldering iron just didn't have enough poo to handle the job. Dug out my old Weller D 650 and made a new tip for it out of  #12 wire. Works like a charm.

So I'm off to Lowes for some more wire, a tin of flux and a couple of pine rounds for the base. I'm gonna make a lazy Susan base with some of the bearings......I think! Might just buy one and save the work.

Well....I gotta get busy. Lots to do and it's our neighborhood happy hour day. Gonna BBQ a batch of wings for snacks.

Have a nice day at work everyone :rotflol: :rotflol: :rotflol:
