I tried for silvers in Juneau. But they had a mudslide 3 years ago that wiped out the year class that would have returned this year.

Caught my first Alaska Coho and first 2 Chum salmon the past 3 days . Silvers are finally here at the lake in good numbers along with Sockeyes still coming through.

Getting the Cohos every day now, keep finding them near the mouth of the side channel. 3 each of the past 2 days, including an 8 pounder 2 days ago and all on my light rod with 6 pound test.

Got them on my first 2 casts yesterday...

Nice going, they must give you quite the tussle on light tackle.

Thanks. Yes, luckily there is very little current and a muddy bottom in the creek, no rocks to worry about and just a few roots along the banks.

I thought the Sockeyes were done, hard to get them to bite when spawning but managed to tempt a big male and a female near the lake shoreline last night. Then a grizzly came by looking for an easy meal.

Just Beautiful! I fished in Alaska when I was 18. Caught some nice sockeye on the Kenai and Russian Rivers fishing from shore. They fought super hard! Amazing place….I’ll never forget it. Enjoy, and enjoy reading your post👍
