BASS LAKE
« on: Jul 27, 2022, 12:02 PM »
I know that this topic is like beating a dead dog. The question I have is: has anybody been there lately? Was wondering if the lake is still as shallow as it was last year. With lake Michigan on hold I am thinking about giving it a try. Got walleye???

I also will be curious to know especially with Koontz lake launch shut down for now. I'll be curious if there is enough depth to launch at Bass.  I drove around the south shore of Bass today, coming home from Culver and was surprised at the number of houses for sale and also the old marina commercial parcel is for sale.  Things are and will forever be changing...

Not yet. Not sure what plans are for tomorrow yet. Might just wait till after Labor Day. I know with all the people trying for I more day before summer season is over. Next week 4 sure. Bait shop said she measured a 27-inch walleye last Sunday. I did see a pic of 3 nice limits of perch taken out in 50 fow. Took 3 hrs. Big north winds coming Sunday so that will be out of the question for a bit longer. Give me a little time to check out the dead sea. lol

Have to see for myself, if the sea is dead. Let you know after, providing there is a report to share.

Got 3 white bass, 3 crappie one 13 incher and a flathead cat. Nice day to be out on water. No wind. Have to fix my trolling motor. Propeller won't turn will spin side to side, no forward. Guessing the rain is the culprit. Glad there is a Minn Kota repair shop only a few miles away. No walleye. NEXT TIME. At least enough for a meal, GOOD DAY.

Not a lot to trolling motors. If you want to save some cash just youtube it. I'd start with the brushes. Minnkota's are notorious for the prop seal going bad and letting water corrode the brushes.
I'd also use caution with that " authorized " Minnkota repairman. My buddy had his there multiple times for a short.  Several parts were thrown at it with no fix. Tore into it himself and found the wires running through the shaft were worn through.

My motor isn't only 1 1/2 yrs. old with less than 20 of run time. Have taken my Minn Kota products too Rich for the past 25 years. Very reliable and reasonable. Taking boat over there in an hour. He will fix the issue on spot. Can't beat that with a stick?

Another bad battery. Glad it was a simple fix and not a motor issue. No charge.
