My first try New Hopper Pattern
« on: Aug 24, 2022, 10:09 AM »
I saw this hopper pattern on a tying site and decided to give it a shot. It’s got a great profile from below and looks pretty cool from above. Here’s what I came up with, the next ones should be better! Hex

The fish will tell you how good it is👍
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Tied up three more hoppers trying to down size each one. Heading to Michigan next Tuesday for a couple days fishing. Hopefully the hopper bite will be on, usually is this time of year. I’ll post up a report after returning! Here’s a picture of my endeavors! Hex

Mighty fine Hex!!! You are getting very artistic! I don't have the patience to duplicate the likeness of the true insect.
Good job!
I'll be heading back up to Crystal Falls on the tenth for our annual Fall Bass Attack! Looking forward to it.

All I know is any hopper dead or alive that falls into the trout pond has a life expectancy of about 3 seconds. I've been trying to catch them and throw them in.

Well made the trip to Michigan and did some fishing but the fish weren’t very cooperative. We only caught two trout and my friend missed another rise but that was it. I think the fish were fed up from the last full moon and the high water event a week ago, as the one I kept had a belly full of nymphs, when I cleaned it and checked his stomach contents. On the positive side my new Orvis outfit preformed great! Here’s a picture of the first trout on the outfit, stream side. I’ll probably make one more trip before the season ends, at least that’s the plan. Hex

Very cool.  Hopper dropper is one of my favorite ways to nail trout this time of year!

Nice look tie, and I’m also impressed every time you post one of those browns. Really good looking fish!

Nice outfit and that brown is gorgeous in colors!
