crappie fishing around Charlotte

I am going to Charlotte next week for some training for work. will have time to kill after 3pm each day looking for some crappie fishing around the area within an hours drive . Not looking for honey holes just some general areas to start.  would b glad to trade some Lake Erie walleye/perch fishing for it as I live on Lake Erie
