Genesee Beer Tanks
« on: May 30, 2017, 05:34 AM »
The tanks docked in Macedon last night.

Pretty cool to see the Canal used for shipping.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

I recently heard those tanks were built in China.
Even though US companies had bid on them.
Something (reportedly) about delivery, not price.
And they (reportedly) ended up being shipped late anyway.

So..............did the Chinese actually lie to get the order?

Doubt it.
They are an honorable people.

According to this article, the NY company declined to bid on the entire tank bid, instead bidding only on portions of it.

Made in China or not....they're dumping $40 million into the local economy with this expansion. I cant get bent up about 5% of that going overseas. Especially when local labor and suppliers are providing and benefiting from their dollars.

A profitable local company is far better than a dead horse like Kodak.

I agree, just wanted to put some of the reported facts out there.   Haven't had a Genny Cream Ale for 30 years, I see it in the drug store and almost pick up a case just for old times sake, but something else always catches my eye.

Thanks for the link. Now I'm thinking it stinks that a NY based company supported by my tax dollars wouldn't bid on this project.

Anyway, beer making will stay in Rochester.  :flag:

Didn't bid on the ENTIRE scope as requested.

Then had the gall to whine about not receiving the order.

I'm in the same type of work.
Designing, bidding, and (hopefully) building capital equipment.
If I don't do my work, get close to the customer, and bid equipment to meet the specification, I will not get the contract.
Period.
And that's my fault.
Not the customer's.
Not the competition's (who did his or her job).
And certainly not the government's fault.

Our world is becoming a bucketful of entitlement jerks.

Yes Bob, Genny stays here in WNY.
BTW, Falls Brewery (Genesee Beer) is one of my clients.
Good for them!!!
