my dad and grandad were trout fisherman , I was broke in on thick tagalter trout streams as a child  , my grandparents lived on the salmon river I believe by the age of 10-12 I was able to fish it without supervision for Browns ,but I had to be able to swim in current but I think my gramps use to check on me in secret ,  I learned many thing including how to read water and be on alert for the rising water as the salmon river is hydroelectric, back then they ran the water much different , ,I guess stream fishing holds the the most joyment , but I have an insatiable hunger for fishing , my gramps lived through bad times and told me as long as you can hunt and fish or trap there will always always be food on the table but enjoy what you do , great memories

i remember as a  kid on salmon river  pickinga  rock  to pay attention to  if  water started   rising you  got out ....plus you could hear it coming it  rumbled

I just love it[fishing] and will give up a hunting trip to go fishing,

Wow...i would love to be able to catch fluke/flounder and seabass from my own boat....i have from party boats but to fish from small boats would be amazing. Do you fish ny or nj?

I know down in Jersey they get a good fluke bite from shore.  Mike is in RI...

Yeah I fish in RI icejohn. There are spots in RI that will get you fluke from shore but a boat is key. Last year I made 11 trips out and caught over 350 keeper sized fluke. Thats over 30 fish on average per trip and that excludes the 700+ shorts. Sea bass galore as well.

I heard they are getting big numbers of salmon in the lake. Let's hope for another good season in the river.

May have to visit for that.  I could use your help teaching me how to get one to eat a fly.
