Maine Tackle Companies
« on: Aug 22, 2018, 06:36 PM »
Wondering what we have for local tackle companies?

Not talking shops or stores - I mean manufacturers!

Google hasn’t been helpful so far. I’d like to keep my money in Maine.

Everett Lures in Central Maine has some nice spoons, spinners, crankbaits, etc.  They have a web site.

I know this isn't  much of an answer to your question, but, the folks that do my water jet work and laser cutting, cut blanks for several people in Maine that make lures, I can ask them who they are.

If your looking for rod rod holders, the Down Easters have been made in Lewiston for 5 generations and I like to support  them.

Do any actually make lures or are they modifying/taping blanks?

Ive been making lure for 11 years. Currently make hand poured spinnerbait and jigs. Handmade Inline Spinners for both Trout, Salmon, Bass and Pike. Trolling Spoons as well from 2.5" up to 5". All are hand poured, bent, assembled and painted. Heres a few examples.

Speaking for Everett Lures here.

I paint alot of spoon and crankbait blanks with airbrush. Also do some custom work. Some spoons are taped and some are painted. Spinners are assembled and designed by myself. It would be a huge production to make your own lure bodies (spoons hollow bodies), so most of us will buy blanks or parts, assemble them, and design the color patter.

I design the majority of my lures with single hooks to aid in catch and release , including the crank baits.
