River report
« on: Oct 19, 2018, 09:24 AM »
While late winter/early spring prespawn can offer up primo fishing both for size and numbers,  it is hard to predict when
that breakout time arrives.  It could be early March or it could be in May. For me the most consistent good fishing is offered up on October 7th +/- 5 days.  At that time the water is cooler, the fish are more aggressive, crowds and bugs are largely gone and, leaf drop is not yet an issue.

This year, family obligations kept me off the water for much of the last 6 weeks, but I did get out yesterday.  Standing on a rock and casting a 1/16 oz white ballhead jig with a white 2 1/2 inch twister tail, I caught bass, bluegill, crappie, goggle eye and a striper.  All in about a half hour....  Point is - Fall offers great fishing. Get out there...……

You are right. Best time of the year is right now. I'm taking a few days next week to take it all in.
