I would try around the route 70 side instead maybe scar hill.

Jim I have never had much luck by the stone church. Scar Hill would be a good bet or down past the three ponds. Also some good shoreline if you park in the parking area on your left after you go over the RT12 causeway.
I fish every chance I get and enjoy every time I fish. They call it fishing not catchin

We were getting spawning lakers pretty shallow (10ish feet) just before the Q closed.

If the season was open just a bit later things could be very interesting.

Lakers are def in shallower water but stone Church is never a great bet for lakers (salmon are in the basin/rivers though). Try the main body for some lakers - live bait better than lures usually. But yes, laker season is here.

went to the cellar holes this morning, 33 degrees with 10 mph north wind..brrr  :o
6lb test slinging 3/4 oz kastmasters
water is high so not much shoreline for casting.
2+ hours of nothing, not even a nibble. :'( water did not feel real cold.
i will try again in a couple of weeks.

fished it this morning. walked up on a small buck on my way in. got to the fishing spot and there was a fresh dead swan all torn apart on the shore. then landed 5 lakers 1 on metal and missed many runs. was a fun and productive adventure today. somebody cruised by on a pontoon boat, what I would do to be able to fish off that today!

Was there for a few hours today. Started out salmon fishing to find all the lots loaded with vehicles at both rivers. After I determined that it wasnt worth the hassle I went for Lakers and got the skunk.

For all the cars I actually only ran into a few people - some hikers also - saw one salmon pretty far upstream, caught none.

I have always found that they bite much better on weekdays as they are not pressured nearly as much.
