9 fish is good.  Native brookies have been the most reliable early fishing for me, too.  I usually get good numbers, but anything over 9" is a big fish.  I hooked and lost a grandaddy that went about 11" last spring.

I fished a small local brook Saturday and caught five fine brookies from 6.5-9"....a buddy of mine missed his limit by one but caught a cockin' 11" native.....what a pretty fish that was!
Sunday was lucky enough to catch a boat ride around Big Pennesseewassee....we caught (and released) 7 salmon ranging from 15-22", the largest a tad over 2#
Finished the weekend off with a little trip to the brackish.....slow but they're coming.   ::)
all in all a great opening weekend.

thanks fshnfool....i do have a camera and had posted a few pics on the hardwater side (IS) over the winter but failed miserably in taking it open water opening weekend.   Once i whip out The Pickle (my boat) i'll be sure to have the camera in the dry bag should the photo-ops present themselves.
Keep after 'em!

no good brooks to fish in Knox county where I live but plenty up north where we fish most of the time.  caught a few down here but not many.  exelnt turkey hunting though.  Ice fishings slow to
Turkey hunting or Salmon fishing.
Call in sick and do both all day.
Got to love spring cast and blast

Hit a couple brooks in Lincoln County last night.  Bite was good considering that water temps were 34-35.  Got 11 brookies (mainly 7-9") in a little over an hour.  Micro shad dart tipped with a bit of worm or waxworm was working well.

I made it out for the first time this season, went to the small brook on the property where I grew up. I caught a nice 9 1/2" brookie, had a bunch of bites, had one come off the hook and roll down the bank back into the water.  ::) But most of all, I had a blast! I haven't fished down there for years. Took the trout up to the home place and fried it up for an afternoon snack which I shared with my mom who is 88, we also had some muffins that she had made that morning. It brought back a lot of good memories.
