Catching a few here and there, too.

But it looks like the initial post-spawn splurge has already come to a close this year where I fish.

Truth is, it's right on time.  The last two weeks of May are when I crush 'em:

If this year is anything like my last five, I probably won't see another Crappie until next April.  They are EVERYWERE in late Spring, and then they just seem to vanish the rest of the year for me.

Which is fine, since no one else catches them either

That way for me too on Saratoga-hottest catch three weeks ago till last week- then it was work to get a few. I have heard Lake Lonely starts at the end or the Toga hot spell.. May be worth a try.

I like fishing for crappie more than any other fish the last few years ...... not sure why .... maybe the challenge finding them and getting them to bite as the seasons progress.

I agree Frogger definitely one or two on my list along with walleye. The larger limit may but them at one.
