RG I hope it’s a mole , voles breed up to 12 times a year and have from 2-10 pups , my daughter had a colony is was a nightmare trying to get rid of them

It's definitely voles. Haven't caught one as yet, but all the signs re correct. I bought a general animal repellent today and filled the holes with it. Worst case, I'll dig up the herb plot ( it's small) and wire mesh the entire bottom and sides. I can buy new starts if need be. I needed the repellent anyway to try to discourage Mr.Stinky from digging for worms.

Gardens require vigilance I guess.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

it's actually powdery mildew. Baking soda dissolved in water and sprayed on the leaves should help. Need oil is also a broad spectrum anti fungal, organic product.

I would eliminate any large infected leaves and treat with Neem. Back off on watering and fertilizing for a bit.prune to allow good air circulation.

I've had this problem before and it's not the end of the world.

Got you hooked, huh?  ;D

No smoking for me tomorrow. It's my daughter's 30th and she wants clams and, you know Dad, whatever else might go with them. So I'll fire up the old lobster pot for a good old fashioned lobster and clam bake complete with corn on the cob and new red potatoes. Too bad neither will be mine.   ;D

What time? It's about 4.5 hours to your place.

Dang I wish I could.....I'd bring the clams casino.

Have a great day Bill. My Baby is over 40 now. She still loves her dad.

Thanks for the info on neem oil gentlemen. I will let the group know how I make out Monday.

Gonna try to get some of those walleyes that I keep reading about on the forum between storms tomorrow

Checked all my gardens a bit ago. No new holes and the vole seems to have left the neighborhood. Guess the repellent is going to work.

It's pricey, but hands down the best organic product on the market IMO.

Pricy, but it goes a long ways. I'll be treating my tomatoes,  cukes, pickles and squash this evening. A little preventive maintenance goes a long ways.

We're getting into Japanese Beetle season here pretty soon. I think I'm hanging traps in all my neighbor's trees

I have used neem oil for the past four seasons. It is better than nothing, not the cure all you would hope for.  Remove the fungal leaves from the garden, and spray the neem twice a week.  It will extend the life of the plants some.  I also found that growing plants in either red plastic or blue plastic mulch helps.  The blue works for the squash/ zucbini and the red is great for tomatoes.  The idea is to lessen soil contact  with the leaves. The soil has most of the fungal spores.
