Do you know where the crappie are in your lake? That's the key. If you know where, a depthfinder (flasher style) is really useful because you can see what depth they are and you can see your lure, and how they react. If the water is real clear and you have a shanty, you can see down the hole and watch your jig. Or, you can do that with a camera.
If you don't have any electronics, try jigging with a soft plastic and jig, or a buck shot rattle spoon, or an ice jig/minnow combination. Soft plastics that work well are Ratsos or Berkley Gulp minnows. Start with 2" size and if you don't get bites, scale down to the smaller ratsos. If legal, try fishing 2 jigs in tandem.
Next, fish different depths, start at the bottom and jig up the water column. Don't be afraid to fish a foot under the ice. Crappie feed up and suspend a lot. Like I said, check out the crappie section on Iceshanty, lots of good info there. Good luck.
