Keeper Striper
« on: Jul 07, 2019, 10:29 AM »
I started out catching a 25 “ Striper on a Mackerel. Then as the tide switched to out going all I could jig were pogies .I seen the day before schools of them  driven right out of the water. So I live lined one and could see a Striper attacking it , then my balloon took off. After a 10 minute battle I landed it up on the rocks . I could tell right away this was going home with me. It was 35 inches!

Way to go! It seems like a good year for stripers up your way, and the fish keep getting bigger in your posts!

Good one Wayne, you've been chasing that one for a while now, nice to see the persistence pay off.

Wow, nice fish! Glad the persistence finally payed off. The migration maps says the keepers had been showing up but haven’t I seen many reports. I’m sure you’re get a few good meals out of that one. I personally don’t eat fish, but have been keeping some here and there for family. I’m sure if I released a keeper stripper I’d get hell for it  :-\

Nice catch!  I had a feeling things would be picking up.  Upon returning from a holiday trip, I had too much to do to get out last night.  As I headed off to work this morning, I could see two pods of a school working the surface hard.   Despite a sore shoulder, I'll be hitting the water this evening.
