Thanks guys, really happy to be back in Alaska. Brought my 6wt fly rod this year and have caught a  mess of Dolly Varden, several Cutthroat and one Sockeye with it so far, and a second Sockeye broke off while I was frantically reeling the line I had stripped in trying to fight it on the reel. Haven't used it in years because I wasn't interested in fishing much when I was guiding.

27 years for me. It is the first thing I bought when I got a good job. I think it paid for itself after 12 years.

Basically, food seed to lure in deer to be shot.
Bait and shoot for deer is not legal in NY.
However, many do it.

This. Selling bait in the hunting section of Walmart where it’s illegal to bait deer

Planting a food plot is not illegal in NY. Hunting over one is a different story.
But they still sell mineral blocks and bags of corn specified as deer corn.  Go figure… ::)

There seems to be some confusion here.  It is perfectly legal to plant food plots and hunt over them in NY.  It is very common.  It is not legal to place any mineral blocks containing salt where deer have access.  It is not legal to place bait to attract game.  You will see bags of "deer candy" in many retail stores later in the year.  It seems obvious that most of these, if not all, are being used illegally to bait deer.  I imagine most of these contain corn, maybe with some salt or sugar added.  The DEC will ticket anyone caught doing this.  It does seem wrong that stores can sell this stuff in NY when it is not legal to use it in NY.  That's NY for you.

I inquired about this with an ECO and that is exactly what I was told. They can sell it but you can't use it. Daaa  Then why allow it to be sold in NY?

I guess technically you could feed the deer. But I prefer them grilled, not befriended
