Title: Heading for the UP

Leaving early Saturday morning for my 42nd year in Crystal Falls, Michigan. All my pals are tied up so going it alone, pulling my 1973, "Mean Green Fishing Machine", 16' Starcraft Mariner.  About a 6 1/2- 7 hour drive. Hobart to Milwaukee, Green Bay, Iron Mountain, to Crystal Falls. My stepdaughter and two grandsons, 9yrs and 12yrs coming up the 2nd week.
Looking for those big gills, Smallmouth and Largemouths on the fly and the really big females gills in 18 ft of water. Anxious to try the Mop Flies I tied up. Feel VERY fortunate to be able to make the trip after my triple by-pass last August!
Will report back upon my return.

Hope all your spots produce great for you this trip.  That is a beautiful area and lake to fish!

Are the big gills back? Last I heard they were scare. Don't forget to try deep as in around 20 feetish. Got sinking fly line?
