I've got two 7' and  I use them for trolling with wire line on the St.Croix. Love them and they are tough as nails.

one for ice jiggin, one for trout, one for gills, one for bass, and one for surf castin. They work, they are sensitive, they are tough as nails, and they are cheap  ;D only problem i ever had was the plastic on the eyes busting out. then not realizing it and i  have lost several too many fish that way.

I've got a dozen or so of them in various lenths from 4'6" to 7' long rods.

My two favorite are rare makes.
5'9" medium light and 6'6" ultra-light.

That ultra light is a killer for walleyes and crappie.

I've got four ugly stick trolling rods and they really are "unbreakable".

Ive got a 5'6" Ugly Stik Lite Pro and its a great rod for what it cost.

Plenty of backbone to crank smallies and it has sensitivity too.

Great beater rods, i use one to trout fish the creeks, you can beat brush down with it,tough rod, there are more senitive rods out there, but for the price the ugly sticks are great.

Like the TV commercial trash compacter?  Doubt it.  The Ugly Stick will break if you bend it too far.  The linge guides can bend and break off too.  So it's a tough rod, but I wouldn't use it for anything else but fishing.   Well maybe for self defense.  ;D  If I was suddenly confronted in the woods.  But I'll be sure to say, "Don't make me stick a pole up your butt!"  :o

Have 5 ugly sticks, good beater rods.  Jury is still out on the lite model.  Havent used it much yet, but it seems nice.
