Diefenbaker lake
« on: May 12, 2013, 04:44 PM »
Got out for the first time on open water this year. Got to ford's coulee at 6 am, dried up. There is a tiny stream where 10-15 fow should be. Headed to a different spot, and started throwing a 5-6" live target smelt crank. First cast, caught a tiny pike. Sencond cast, a beauty trout. Then nothing for a while, so we switched to pickeral rigs and caught lots of small whitefish. We ended up keeping 3. We ended up keeping 3 pike, 3 whitefish and the trout. 2 pike were tiny, but hooked deep. It was a great day fishing and to top it off we had bbq elk steaks for lunch before we left .
