I'm bummed New York didn't do anything about letting kids and old cripples like me use crossbows all archery season this year. Still have to wait for the last two weeks. I was against crossbows when I could shoot my vertical bow. To me, archery was about making the draw and shot undetected when the deer was close enough to hear him chewing acorns and still is. Old age, arthritis, nerve problems in my left arm have ended that for me. I didn't hunt for 5 years but I got missing being in the fall woods so I went to the Dark side and bought a used crossbow from a friend a few years ago. It sucked having to wait till the last two weeks of archery season, but at least i was in the woods again. I got excited last year when they almost allowed all season hunting but they pulled the rug out from under us.
I would still prefer my vertical bow, but any way to get out works for me. Any other crossbow shooters out there?

My mom shoots a CB. Kind of sad when NYS can't make it legal for a 76 year old woman to hunt with me during most of the bow season.  :-\

Thanks guys!!!!
The best moments were after he shot it.. put his bow down and was shaking like a leaf on a tree in a hurricane.. he had to sit down he was so excited...
Then when we were tracking it, he spotted it first he ran to it and was like..DAAAAAD ITS BIGGER THAN WE THOUGHT

GREAT DAY IN THE WOODS ILL NEVER FORGET

Congratulation. By the looks of that smile I think he is hooked. Better get that lifetime license for him.

Took my little man out yesterday a.m.... had a 6 point 10 yards from blind.. as he drew back his cam hit roof.. buck ran off...
This a.m... for came in same spot.. drew back on her and she sensed movement and darted off...
15 min later... a buck showed up SAME TRAIL.. he ended up 7 yards from blind...
After 2 min (I recorded the whole thing) boy was able to draw back.. and smoked this guy... 13 years old.. not a SMASHER.. but a hell of a buck for first deer and first deer with a bow AND from the ground WITH A BOW
I could be happier... his excitement after he shot was unmatchable

Outstanding!!!! Way to go!!!
