Well my program from last weekend only netted 2 keepers and a few throwbacks switched over to rapalas on leadcore and snap weights in 35-40fow and pulled 3 more keepers and a smallmouth. Most fish were spitting up small minnows, looked to be perch.

H2l I noticed they were spitting up minnows in the live well also. Do you tip your jigs with anything, maybe minnows are the way to go.

I put a worm on the jigs. Minnows are pretty hard to keep fresh in warm weather. Will use a leech once in a while...h2l

Spot lock is great, as long as the water is somewhat calm.... it does keep you in the same general area.   I use it mostly when I am trolling around edge and when you get a fish on, I hit the spot lock real quick to land the fish and then keep on moving.

I spot lock in big waves a lot jigging lakers no problems at all.  Occassionally some cavitstion on my stratos with a 60" shaft.  Adding a 87" shaft to 23ft proline for spot locking for tog and bass in the ocean.

Sometimes it pays to be "old and wise". Weather has not been great for fishing, but at the same time fishing can really improve after a week of hot weather. We will see.....h2l

H2l I believe I have reached the old part, when does the wise part kick in. The water temp on my fish finder said 80.2 air temp. Was much higher. Can't say I enjoyed that trip much.

fished yesterday for a few hours - real hot, and those biting flies were out in full force, it was crazy!  Never experienced that before.

Caught a few decent smallies and actually had a smaller pike 20" or so break my line right when I was about to net it.
