Took the 2 wt and some flies to the canal this morning. Caught more gills than I could count. Some really nice ones at that. Water in my section is about 5-6' in the middle. Saw several carp porposing, bass taking minnows on the surface and bait everywhere.

Freezer is pretty full so today was a sportfishing day.

Gotta tie some more "Double Martinis"...today!

I see where an elderly lady in Pittsford got confused and dropped her car in there. They got her and her submerged car out OK.

I was by the section between Amsterdam and Scotia yesterday, it seems so strange not seeing it filled. Did see some guys fishing what little water there is. Has to be like fishing in a barrel, if there are any fish in there....h2l

You weren’t kidding! Took NY30 south out of Amsterdam today and you could almost walk across the canal!

There was a family walking on land in the middle, to the east of NY30 which I assume is normally underwater

Canal in my section came up about a foot yesterday. About 3 feet more and I can launch. The marina that rents the Packett Boats is frantically getting boats out of storage. They have a dozen or so and also have another 20 slips for the yachts and houseboats.

Things are looking up!

Up another couple feet overnight. Had to  come home and get my waders to fly fish this morning. Caught osme nice gills again. Saw some carp feeding in the shallows. I'm getting anxious.

Canal has about another foot and a half to go and I can launch. Lock  attendant was back at work today. Looks like they're not going to fill the section from Macedon to Palmyra just yet.

Have you had a chance to field test the new finder yet?

Not yet. I'll probably wait till Tuesday at this point. I'm not going to battle the holiday crowd.

Canal is full. Boats were out in force yesterday. I'm biding my time.

I just wonder how many fish died during this fiasco...didn't understand how not working on the locks during shutdown made any sense since most of the work is outside and rarely see more than 1 or 2 workers at a time...unnecessary!
Just my 2cents and I'm sticking to it!
take a kid hunting and fishing, it's a lot better than leaving them on the streets!!
