Night Crawlers
« on: Mar 10, 2020, 08:42 AM »
Night crawlers were out last night - first I've seen of them at my house lately.  Not enough to get busy and pick but its getting close  :-).

Going to look tonight. It has been warm the last three days with a warm rain right now. Should be showing up soon.

I probably shouldn't have done it, but I went out back to check my leaf beds under cardboard that I made, out back, last fall. Wow, I am going to have the best Red Worms for stream trout this spring. Sweet!

hahaha - awesome !  I just turned my mulch pile and saw similar results - everything seems to have over wintered fine.  This is the first year in a long time that the pile isn't still frozen solid this time of year.

Filled my worm box this morning. The roads and parking area at the park where I walk was loaded with crawlers. I'm set for quite a while.

After 60+ years of picking night crawlers I've finally found the perfect tool for picking them up off the road. My 12" long chef's tweezers. They worked perfectly.

I’ve been using these, since I already had them for my pets
