Stroll along the South Branch
« on: Jul 15, 2017, 05:54 PM »
I fished the South Hoosic from Mullen Mayflower to ALADCO in Adams, and the backtracked upstream to Cheshire Harbor in Cheshire, over the course of a couple hours this afternoon.

Sunny, blue skies, temps in the low 80's. Overall water conditions looked relatively good, except (see below) above the dam at Cheshire Harbor.

I had a swing-and-a-miss under the Burnett Bednarz Bridge, but no other action for the first hour till I caught an 8" brookie a little above Elm Rock.

Then, in relatively short order, I landed a 13" rainbow a little below Elm Rock, and reeled in a nice 15" rainbow that fought like a brown (no aerial acrobatics, it just repeatedly and resolutely "dug for the bottom") by ALADCO.

No luck when I drove upstream to Cheshire Harbor - - my preferred spot below the dam was already occupied, and the area above the dam was surprisingly slow and stagnant looking.
