Fished the lake yesterday with my cousin. We decided to try the broadalbin boat launch for a change. We launched at 6 a.m. water was very rough but we managed to find a pod of fish. We spot locked on them and caught 5 walleyes only 2 keepers, also caught 2 big perch,1 brown bullhead, one smallmouth and a rock bass. The trolling motor was working so hard in the wind, the battery went dead after three hours. We tried drifting for a while, we had many hits but they kept stealing our worms.

What's everyone favorite bait to search for fish while drifting / trolling on GSL?

Thanks
Jeremy

Fished today, caught 9 walleyes, 3 SMB and 3 rock bass. 5 walleyes were keepers, kept 3 for Sally and Bill but they had no one to clean them, so you know what I am about to do. Caught my best walleye of year, 20 inches. When the wind dies so does the hits....h2l

H2l sounds like you had a good day, 20 inch walleyes are hard to come by on gsl. Hope you taught Sally or Bill how to clean them. Jworf a jig and a worm works good.

I cleaned them, Sally gave me 2 pieces of apple pie and 2 pieces of pumpkin pie. They are 5/6 years older than me, good people. Early yesterday I did well in one spot, 2 just over 17 and a couple shorts. Most of the walleyes came from 24 to 27 fow and I never marked them. They were tight to bottom. The fish I did mark didn't want to hit. The 20" came from about 1/2 mile below the bridge. I was beat last night, long day on the water. Lots of bait fish but nothing in the ones I cleaned and nothing in the live well...h2l

H2l pie is a good trade if it’s home made. We haven’t come close to your 20 inch walleye, our best was caught last trip it was 17 1/2 inches. We will keep trying till we can no longer get out when they drain the lake down.

I was just as surprised as anyone. The other 2 that I kept were just over 17, a pretty good day this year...h2l

I would consider a good piece of pie a really good trade for a fish any day.  I have however traded 2 gills on the ice for 1 bullhead.

My best, longest, of the year are several just over 17". Most 16" average. Keeps me from playing with the Y bone. Not very fat but still put up a good fight most times..........
