Hello from Downeast-
My wife and I are headed your way in July, and will be staying in the Mat-Su valley area. I'll be fishing as much as is allowed, and would be open to any advice. I'm most interested in the "do it yourself" areas, and will be carrying a fly rod. Wade fishing. I'm a PM friendly member of MFF ;D

What do you folks use for rod weigths when fly fishing for silvers ? And tippet sizes ?
-
They're still ice fishing check back in a month or so. ;D
I use a 7wt and 10 or 12 pound tippet.
-
I use an Sage 8wt occasionally, most of my Silver fishing is with a bait caster and 8' rod.

I was in anchorage in '99 and once I saw the silver fishing in ship creek, got on board as quick and cheap as I could. Little kids snoopy rod with 30lb test and a 10 day license and I was catchin em elbow to elbow with the best. Got a few snickers bout my set-up, but caught a few nice silvers and one humpy

Things are picking up around here ;D. Hope spring is finally upon you folks. Ice has been out back here for a few weeks now, and our lake trolling season is well underway. Landlock Salmon this week-end for me ;)
Cheers........
