Title: Hoosick Falls on Veterans Day
Post by: bogtrotter on Nov 11, 2021, 03:33 PM
Today was the last of the Free Fishing Days in NY for the year,

Two buddies and I decided to travel from Western MA to try our luck on the Hoosic River in Hoosick Falls between 9:45 AM and 1:15 PM.

It was sunny, blue skies, light breeze and temps in the low 50's.  The stream levels were surprisingly high.

I got lucky and landed two small (11" to 12") rainbows early on, but those were the only fish we caught - - although one of my friends had a couple nibbles (but no solid hook ups) at the second spot we tried (by the St. Gobain plant).

After fishing, we adjourned to the Man of Kent Pub (which was surprisingly packed for a weekday afternoon), where I tried my first Batilka (Russian) porter, accompanied by some jalapeno poppers.

In a little while, I'll be off with my wife to the Haflinger Haus in Adams to celebrate our anniversary.

All in all, a pretty good day.

Happy belated anniversary.

MOK can have a good crowd just about any time.
