Best bet for a large carp in NE Indiana?
« on: Jun 05, 2008, 10:04 AM »
I want to put a big big carp on the wall in my display room this year. Any suggestions where my best bet to catch one is after the spawn? I know of several places and even had a couple of biologists offer suggestions. Just wanted to hear your take on this.

Anyone else fish Sylvan for carp years ago before it was renovated? I used to fish with Wheaties doughballs and ultralight tackle and had a blast. I hear they are back in Sylvan.

Im not familiar with alot of the lakes around here yet, but Lake Michigan has some Bigguns, they look like torpedos in the water around the warm water discharges.

OLIVER,  for a fat pig.

ST JOE above bristol for size. (length)

Lake MI for submarines, mi city and benton harbor the best bet.

I would be more than happy to drop off a sub or two but you'll have to wk around an ARROW hole! i've seen your wk ....you should have no problems with a 1/4 inch hole. ;D

Based on my bowfishing experience i would put sylvan at the top. I have seen more 25 lb fish out of there than anywhere. But the great lakes have some real monsters. Every time i leave the harbors on michigan or erie i have seen some really big fish cruising around.

I think I'll soak some Wheaties below the d**n on Sylvan. I know from experience that carp hand in the flow below the d**n.  I fouled hooked a monster there once.

We see them all the time on Sylvan. My grandparents live there and and when we crappie fish at night they are always up swimming by the seawall...
