Don't ask why. I can't give any reason other than that it was a chance to go fishing.
We left the house at 9:00 AM and got to the resi by 9:40. When we arrived at the
ramp it was already 78 deg with not a breath of a breeze. The sky was a rather threatening
assemblage of big rain clouds and soon to be thunderheads. The lake was smooth as a table
top and any of the hoped for jumps never materialized. My buddy wanted a few white bass to
try out a new fish cake recipe, so we trolled our usual run. It took a while, but his first fish
was a nice LMB which crunched his bomber. (He keeps the hooks on his.) We released it and not
long after he caught a decent crappie. As for me, I was playing with my little $100 striker 4 sonar.
I'm stunned at what it will do. Eventually I connected with a few white bass and, between us, we
had enough for his fish cake dinner. We were back at the dock by noon - still no wind or rain in spite
of threatening clouds. Hot day
