Oregon Trip
« on: Aug 22, 2021, 10:00 PM »
Got back late Friday after spending ten days visiting my two daughters and their husbands in La Grande Oregon! My youngest daughter and her husband came up from California and we had a great time. We hadn’t been together since the first Covid shutdown. We got out fishing one day, but due to the extreme drought and hot weather good water was hard to find. All the small streams were dried up, so we drove about eighty miles into the mountains and found some nice water. My son in law from California had never fished before so I showed him some basic casts in the backyard and he picked it up pretty quick. The fish weren’t that big, which is normal on most mountain streams like this but everyone caught fish and had a great day. The rookie actually caught a small brookie on his first cast, needless to say he’s hooked. Here’s some pictures. Bows and brookies. Hex

I'm sure fish catching was just a bonus. Outdoors and family was the prize.

You’re one hundred percent correct with that statement bigr! We went into the mountains and picked some wild huckleberries one day that was a lot of fun. The hillside where they live has turkeys, California quail and blacktail deer all over they’re yards! Here’s a couple more pictures.

Wow! Thanks for sharing. Glad there was still some water at higher elevations!

You still thinking of retiring out there?

Is that third pic in the net a brown or a cut?

The fish were all brookies and rainbows and the third one is a bow. Yes Taxid might take a couple years to liquidate properties and possessions but that’s the plan. It was a great trip even though the drought and smoke from the fires did damper things, hopefully they’ll get some rain soon and help with the drought situation. It’s beautiful especially in the mountains. Hex

Very pretty out there. The better half has a lot of family around John Day, I really like it out there.

Thanks for the wonderful pics.  It's nice to see other parts of the country that I will never probably get to see.  Thanks for sharing.
