hey jibbs,
yup, she would have been tasty!!
she was a obvious active spawner though, so i release her to spawn again!!
kept a smaller male for dinner and HE WAS super-delicious!!!!!!!

Nice Eye, how long was she?  Fisheries biologist claim that most females over 27" though dont spawn anymore... why they usually make slots between 17"-26" to protect the active spawners... but I agree I release the big ones just to hopefully catch again someday and the smaller ones are a lot more tasty!

hey corny.
very interesting!!
do you have a link with the active spawner size info???
i'd like to read this...i've always thought there was a limit to spawner's age...
ps. she was about 30".
cheers,  gw.

where is your tournament card?
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and there go all the good spots.

hey guys.
thanks for the kudos!!!
according to boca-grip she was 8.5lbs!!!
fairly skinny!!!
i've got fish that length later in the year that were well into the double digits.
this is why i assumed she was actively spawning...
it was spring and she was healthy and tough...not a scratch on 'er!!!
ps. too stupid to bring my tourney card that day  ::)
cheers,  gw
