Reudi Reservoir, for lakers. I had caught like 10 or so in the morning bite, and zero after, so I felt like taking a short hibernation.

I'm still searching for trout in Mississippi.  I think that searching for them is about like waiting for the lakes to ice over...

All caught in colorado river.

Here is one I caught a couple months back. (just got pic.) About 7 1/2 lbs. hooked him in a deep hole and he took me about 300 yards downriver. What A fight! Caught and realeased on a bounced nightcrawler.

Fat brown caught on a crocodile. pole was 7ft fish was 17" roughly 2 1/2 lbs. Released. Caught this spring fishing alone (perspective shot needed)

Eventually I will take up flyfishing when I am older, but for a few more years at least I am going to catch some this way. My goal is a 20lb. (state record) rainbow. I know just the hole to get it on the colorado, I hooked him this jan. ;D

I bet the icefishing at jerry creek would be phenomenal, and the bluegills much simpler to catch, but icefishing is not allowed since it is a water reservoir for the city of grand junction. They are afraid of contamination and liability.(not many people would fish it anyway as not many people fish it in open water, and you have to walk about 1/2 mile all uphill to it. It would be in like 4 ft. of snow) Well, just another thing that my city doesn't get to vote on, like pretty much everything important including the mayor! I hate grand junction for that!!!

Well TFB I never saw these pics before but sure enjoyed them as trout are at the top of my list of fish to target . Your countryside is different from ours too . We have more Brookies and Lakers where I live than bows and browns but those browns are just as spectacular as our brookies are . Did I say that .? ??? Not me . LOL ;D

I can't wait until my latest 2 rolls of film get devoleped! I have some browns in perspective shot that were in the 16-21" range, a few rainbows with me in the picture that are appx. 3 lbs, and a few walleye pics as well. Maybe a few big brookies I caught this summer (14-18" range are the big ones) as well... I've been wondering where their pictures are.

FYI about the trout of fame (and all) of my pics. if I give a length it means I measured it w/ my leatherman and if I give a weight it means I weighed it on a dig. scale.

Alright here's a few. Mostly from october but a few squeezed in from september as well.
Pics are mostly from colorado river (10pics 4 rainbows 6 browns), 1 from leon lake (brookie), 2 from juniata reservoir (1 walleye, 1 scenery), and 1 from jerry creek reservoir#1 (largemouth)
All fish shown were released except for the brookie and the 3 (actually 5 walleyes, only 3 in pic). Those mentioned were given a good home in my stomach ;)

I'd like to rocket! If we could ever get together this winter (early nov-mid feb.) that is when the fishing on the colorado river really heats up! Especially in my secret hole, the only hole I know of that doesn't get frozen over in the winter because of a class 3 rapid above it. The huge, and I mean HUGE rainbows stack there in the winter. average day is anywhere from 15 (rare to be that slow) and 50 (happened 4 times in last 3 years that I myself topped 50 in one day). Bows average 3-9 lbs. in the winter with many above that mark possible. (if you read a few of my posts a 20+ pounder broke my line about 5 feet from the bank in jan. 2004) Only a few browns, and mostly small, are caught during the winter in this hole because it happens to have a sandy bottom which only rainbows like.  The huge browns are on the other, more rocky side which I happen to not like as much because the bank is all rocks and icy and slippery and the river there is snaggy as h*ll. The late fall and early winter months when the weather is the coldest is the best time to fish the colorado river as especially my first post can attest to.

Sounds awesome Tbear!!!! Would a "Pocket Rocket" work? There a little plastic grub that I make. They are about as long as a standard tube jig, they are solid plastic, and the are about as round as a pencil. I have cought many Bluegill, bass, Crappie and a few trout through the ice with them.

It would probably work pretty well if you could fish it really deep and slow. I have caught a good number of river trout on jigs.

Bad news TroutofFame fans, I had a throwaway camera with 25 pictures taken, 20 of them were of my fish, almost all of them were rainbows between 3-7 lbs. The camera was lost (hope we can still find it) by my brother after he took a picture of me with a 4lb. rainbow to end the day. I had all of november on there almost >:( I hope I can find it I had some wonderful huge rainbows on that camera :'(
Well, the last 2 trips, one on the colorado river and one on the henry's fork of the snake in idaho I used a new throwaway camera, and I still caught some good ones but not good enough to replace what I lost :'( I got a couple around 5 lbs. Still have a few pics left to take, should be an update in a couple of weeks. Hope you all stay around to see it!

alright, but you'll have to wait until next spring, at least until early may, until I catch some more. By first of june next year it will be all to easy to show you the pictures. The fish, unless the lake is winterkilled (it definitely could with the low water :-\) will be all to easy to get bluegills in the 11-13" range
Title: Re: TroutFishingBear's Trout of Fame
Post by: crappie66 on Nov 30, 2004, 12:18 AM
I just want to see a close up shot of the bluegill next to a tape measure.  The pictures I have seen do appear to make the bluegill above average size, but they look more like hybrid bluegills than wild strain.  I wouldn't worry so much about a winterkill on the bluegill, they are a very hardy fish.  The pond here where I live is only 4 or 5 feet deep at the very most with most areas only 3 feet or so and the fish always survive.
Title: Re: TroutFishingBear's Trout of Fame
Post by: TroutFishingBear on Dec 03, 2004, 04:55 PM
I assure you, they are pure, wild bluegill. I hope you will be patient with the pictures... it will be a long time before I can fish this lake effectively again because ice fishing is prohibited  >:(

As for pictures making fish seem larger: I have found that to be the case at times, and other times the fish are far smaller in pictures. It all depends on how the fisherman is holding the fish, the lighting, and the angle.

Sadly TroutOfFame fans, I never did find that camera. That will just go into the books of 20 big rainbows LOST IN TIME!!!:'( :'( :'( :'(

Here is a small taste of my winter fishing adventures! (The adventures, although they appear to be me catching the H-E double L out of those rainbows/cuttbows, usually involve behind the scenes falling down on my big butt :D)

Here's a rainbow/cuttbow appx. 20" released of course

Sometimes on the colorado river, in a slow hole if it has been very cold, we have to catch the icebergs before we can start fishing. Those things are like 30 ft. LOL

Here's my dad with a couple of nice rainbows on the colorado river this year.
We've always thought of sending this one to cabelas, because of the logo on his waders. We wouldn't dare wade in this water, because it is over 10 ft. deep right off of the bank, but they are warm in the winter.

Those are some nice fish, hopefully i can have a K.C. trout of fame at the end of the year ;)

Cool K.C.! I look forward to seeing it! A lot of times in the winter, especially in the morning on the colorado river, we catch our biggest fish but cannot take pictures of them because of the ice ledge, and we cannot bring the fish over it. Usually we just let the fish flip off then. We'd rather let a 10 lb. rainbow survive then to get a picture of it.

Yeah, it's tempting to take lots of photos but i have realeased some big fish of various species without taking pics because i don't want to hurt the fish.

kodiak, what's your average day on the kenai? I just want to know exactly how much better it is there than here on average.
Title: Re: TroutFishingBear's Trout of Fame

It depends on the time of year there are some times in the year where the fishing isn't as consistent hour in and hour out as the colorado, mostly in the winter. Early season fishing between the first of march and and april 8 (when they close the river for spawning) I would say on an average day each person would catch 3 fish but since the big fish start moving to spawn first your average fish will be between 4 and 6 pounds. Last year on march 25 we caught 20 fish between 6 people in two drift boats but they were all between 7 and 14 pounds. I don't generally fish the kenai in the summer because it is so crowded the fall is awesome however. On an average day you will catch 30 to 40 fish averaging around 3 pounds but you should be able to catch a good amount of 4 to 8 pounders and maybe a 10 plus pounder if you are lucky and a skilled fly fisherman or really skilled lure fisherman (raibows will generally be more subsebtable to flies and if you spin fish you will be drifting flies with slip bobbers). I generally like fishing the naknek more however mostly because it gets far less pressure than the kenai and you will catch more 10 plus pounders. The kenai has lots of drift boats and shore fisherman for trout and salmon but on the naknek i have fished with no one in sight. The kenai is the numer one fished river by tourists and locals but it's still an amazing fishery cuz of great managment, only 1 rainbow a year can be kept but most guides are stictly catch and realease.

Post by: TroutFishingBear on Mar 01, 2005, 10:26 PM
Yeah...fall fishing on the kenai sounds like winter fishing on the colorado, pretty much exactly. You guys sure grow em big there though, it takes 3-4 trips between every 10 lber here. Here the flyfishing ain't so good because the colorado river is so deep.I bounce worms much like a flyfisherman does a nymph and I also fling big curly tails some too. Any technique to catch fish though is fine with me, provided it isn't dynamite! Here you can keep 2 each trip, but I probably only keep between 6-12 every year, and mostly small 10-14" browns. I did keep 3 rainbows the winter before, and 2 this winter though.

Post by: Kodiak Commando on Mar 01, 2005, 10:58 PM
How deep is the colorado? The kenai can be pretty deep, we fish 7 to 15 feet of water with our fly rods but do have a technique that allows us to fish with fly rods in 15 to even 30 feet of water and even if i could keep many rainbows i wouldn't cuz of the importance of catch and release of course but also the rainbows don't taste to good when they are gorging on eggs and rottens salmon flesh.
Title: Re: TroutFishingBear's Trout of Fame
Post by: TroutFishingBear on Mar 02, 2005, 10:28 PM
Well, most of the normal holes are 20 ft. deep, with the big holes 30-35 ft. deep.  At least where I trout fish it. The current is also too powerful and very high gradient. If you can't fish 30+ ft. consistently well with a slow presentation in the winter, good luck at getting fish, you may get a few 10" browns. The colorado river is very narrow and powerful, much different than the kenai, which if I am not mistaken is very wide. Flyfishing is very good in wide rivers with less current, but not so good in the colorado. Gotta use different techniques in different places, like with pretty much everything.

Here's a nice colorado river rainbows/cuttbows:

Here's some more ;D

mack can catch fish too ;) the scary thing about this bow is part of its tail was bitten off as you can see. The trout in this river can get insanely huge. Just sunday I hooked a 10-12 lber (not sure on weight) at the bridge hole and it took me 200 yards downriver or so before I got it close to the bank and it cut my line like swiss cheese.

Haven't caught anything with bragging rights lately anyway, just lots of 2-4 pounders, nothing worth bragging about. I am going catfishing sunday and might get a few small 1-4 lb. channels. I can't wait to post a picture of a "monster" channel. Watch out TH!!!Lol ::) (If can catch one that is)

Those one man pontoon boats are awesome. We take them on class IV rapids all the time and they are hard to tip! They don't puncture on rocks either. They can also go in very shallow water. They are great for any river and small lake but I wouldn't dare take one on a big lake.

I have to agree that the right pontoon boat can be great for floating. However the best thing one man floating craft i have used has to be the water master it is way more stable than pontoon boats and can usually hold more gear.

Here is a pic of a fully loaded Water master. There are different models this one is called a kodiak, gee i wonder where they got that name ;). They are made in mizzoula montana and their home page is www.kickboat.com (http://www.kickboat.com). Trust me these things are awesome, they work great in lakes but shine in rivers such as the colorado.

He's lucky. He's caught dozens of 10 pounders in the last couple years to my maybe 1 dozen. I always seem to catch more fish than him but he catches the bigger ones. Now this winter from november-february I toasted him on the big fish, caught 30 over the 5 pound mark and he only caught a few. We will get a 20 pounder soon, I don't think any of us have beat the 17 pound barrier on any of our local rivers. Gunny gorge is where we're gonna do it.

Although i have caught lots of 10 pound plus bows in my life all have been in alaska. It's pretty impressive to me that TFB and his dad have caught so many big bows in Colorado. I used to live in colorado and Utah and never caught anything over 8 pounds. Albeit i was under 10 years old and never fished colorado as much as utah i had no clue you could catch that many big fish their. TFB has got those waters mastered!

Title: Re: TroutFishingBear's Trout of Fame (new update 3/31/05!!!)
Post by: TroutFishingBear on Apr 03, 2005, 11:17 PM
The question isn't really what, it is how. (I use mostly nightcrawlers or curly tail grubs)
My rig is a short 5.5 ft. poll with light action. Make sure it isn't an ugly stick, those really suck to set the hook with for the following techniques. I use a reel with instant anti-reverse, and I spool it with 4 or 6 lb. test clear original stren.

For curly tail grubs: use a 3-4" curly tail grub with varying jig heads in 1/8 or 1/4 oz. (I use up to 7" and 1 oz. jigheads on the gunny gorge for the midteens browns, but thats to keep the small  ones off it. ) I like pumpkin, and white. Cast one out at roughly 12 oclock in the current and sink it to the bottom. Every time it hits bottom, lift. Reel in slack, hits bottom, lift. You get a lot of strikes this way. If it gets out of the current or you are fishing a very large hole, drop it to the bottom and slowly reel it back in erratically across the bottom. These outproduce any kind of spinner many fold. I catch far fewer fish on these than on worms though, but they work great.
For nightcrawlers: Keep in mind this is the very basic presentation and needs to be adjusted based on time of year (winter fish like less movement, summer fish more), and there are a bunch of small variations you can do that give you huge success. It would take me 3 hours to type everything I know about worm drifting, and I type nearly 100 words per minute. Tie on a #6 eagle claw baitholder hook. Roughly 15" above the hook, put on anywhere from 1-3 removable water gremlin sinkers, the round kind, in sizes 3-5. The key is just enough weight so your bait ticks bottom and bounces up. (Today, I put on a bunch of weight to keep it in a 20 ft. powerful current channel, but I usually don't face these situations.) Cast out at anywhere from 12 oclock to 2 oclock, and bounce it along the bottom, while slowly reeling in SOME slack. Not all. You want to look for current seems, and bounce it along one of those. Or, if the fish are holding in the slack water off the current seem, slowly reel it back to you along the bottom with many pauses. Overall, fish this where the fish are holding at the given day. A hit is a series of sharp taps by a brown, and a bonecrushing, or slow series of taps, from a rainbow or cuttbow.

Extra tips: Keep in mind the type of water that certain species of fish like, rainbows really like sandbars, shallow or deep, with little current, and browns like rocky areas, shallow or deep, with more current. If you have a gravel bottom and moderate depth or bottom change you will get a mixing of species. Right now though, the rainbows are off the sandbars and into feeder creeks to spawn, so you won't find anything there except your local species of suckers or chubs if you have them. (ours are flannelmouth sucker, bluehead sucker, white sucker, roundtail chub). Like I said, I could go on forever but this is basic presentation. You lip hook almost all of the trout you catch if done properly. My average is anywhere from 10-50 fish, based on time of year and where I am fishing, and typical size caught ranges from 12-30".

Sweet, with that line in that river i bet you have some awesome battles. I love fishin for trout with light line, i do it a lot on kodiak. My biggest fish last year on kodiak was only 5 pounds but on my light rod and 4 pound test it took me a good 15 minutes to land in stillwater! I can only imagine how those fish fight on light line in the heavy current of the colorado. I wish i could do that on the kenai but sometimes you accidentally snag silvers or kings and if you get one in the tail a light rod could snap!

I don't know about the water master (didn't post it), but the bucks bags personal pontoons are 500 bucks. I've had mine for 4-5 years though, and probably had thousands of hours on them. They're worth it, they are absolutely awesome for any river, no matter how powerful (although I wouldn't take it down the grand canyon of the colorado river), and they are good on any lake that doesn't allow power boaters, or has a no-wake zone. Worth every penny.

Kodiak, to be honest with you I haven't use 4 lb. test since last february. I got tired of breaking off so many big fish, and was worried about fighting some too long leading to metabolic acidosis. Since I switched to the 6 lb. test, I can horse the fish a little bit more and catch them a little faster. I also have broken off fewer fish, although I did breakoff a cuttbow appx. 12 pounds a few trips back :'( Sometimes when you hook a big fish in a powerful hole when you are shore fishing, you will find yourself 200-300 yards downstream of where you hooked it. If you don't follow it out of the hole and downriver, in the words of ned flanders, you are screw diddily ewed.

Yeah i understand i usually use 6 pound test also for rainbows on kodiak in fact the only reason i caught one on 4 is i didn't know there were that big of fish in the lake i was fishing! Still Rainbows are a blast on 6 pound test ;D, heck i use 10 to 12 when fishing some of the mainland rivers for those monsters and the 2 pounder can still put up a heck of a fight :o

Here's most of my april fishing. I have some more stuff on another roll of film that has 6 pictures left. My trout fishing was done after april 11th I believe, but I still have a few more pictures from the river on the other camera I think. I may go to the gunnison river below blue mesa dam this weekend though, it is always clear. Depends though, the water cannot be > 2000 cfs or I am not going to risk myself down there, too dangerous if I fall off of a high rock or while I'm wading. Really nowhere to walk if it gets that high.

Here's the first of my big bluegill from my big bluegill lake. It isn't as big as usual, it was 10.5" is all caught on a 4" green senko. You really can't see the rule thing but it was on my brothers' pocket tool thing. It is 9.5" for perspective. As you can see it is pure bluegill, not a redear sunfish or anything like that

This was the only bass out of this particular spot, which historically has been a great producer this time of year, it was kind of strange really that other spots on the lake were better than this one

Round it off with a decent fat largemouth
(https://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi5.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fy158%2FTheBigTimeKing%2Fap0503.jpg&hash=ff5b4f231cd589e3a3c76b457b4df186)[/img]
Overall in two trips to this place I caught 38 largemouth so far and 1 bluegill. Largemouth ranged in size from 9-19", the 19" flipped off right at my feet at the bank :(. I expect more bluegill as the year goes on and they come shallow so fisherman can reach them. (no boats, no body contact with this water) If you compare that 10.5" bluegill it isn't near as big as the 12.5" I have on an earlier page so the fact that I'm telling the truth about the size of these fish is obvious.

Here's a couple trout
small rainbow

I have trout on my other camera.

NOTE: All of these fish posted were caught and released unharmed.
Hope you enjoyed these! My next update should be in approximately 1 week.

Bigred, its not a three way swivel above the senko, in a couple pictures I know I put a sinker right above it because the wind was blowing 20-30 mph and it was impossible to fish without a sinker. You also may be looking at the top of the hook, I'm not sure. I just tie the hook straight to the line and senko.

I got another camera coming in, I'll see if there is pictures on it too.

I think it was just weeds on the line. This lake gets EXTREME weed growths as the water warms. Happens though...like when I thought the pair of antlers you were holding was a snake. :D

When does your walleye season open out there?
It is open year round, although we only have one walleye lake in my area to speak of. It has a no body contact rule so you can't boat on it or icefish it (most of our reservoirs out here, since we have few natural lakes you can't icefish), so basically it seems like the season is closed in the winter. I am going on saturday this weekend to my walleye lake, and I may catch a big rainbow too because they are in there, and on sunday I am going bass fishing again.

The fish does not appear to be a true bluegill, it looks just like a hybrid bluegill (green sunfish/bluegill hybrid).  You say you fish these man made reservoirs in the mountains, so I would bet they were stocked with the hybrid bluegills by the DNR there.  As always though, enjoy the pictures.  I can't wait to see the 13 inch average bluegill picture though.  Regardless if it is a hybrid or not though, the fish is a dandy either way.

LMAO What more do I need to prove to you? It is pure bluegill, I could get the local biologist here to say so but I doubt you'd believe that! He's even tested them before, and he's tested the lake water which has showed him nearly the highest plankton levels he's ever seen in a lake, hence probably a big reason these bluegills are monstrous. CDOW does not stock this lake with fish.

BTW: yesterday, I didn't catch a bluegill, but a member of another forum I'm on caught about a 10.5" and another fisherman on the lake caught a 12.5". Can't wait until the bluegills start coming shallow, then it will get fun!

Crappie they are true bluegill. They were stocked once in this lake many years ago and are naturally reproducing. They average about 11", but 13" gills are pretty common. A two pounder is nothing special here. I know it's hard to believe but that is the truth. That particular gill was measured by me and was 10.5".

The gills in this lake are all naturally self sustaining. The planktonic content is higher here than in any other lakes local biologists have sampled in their whole careers in any area. Plus with tons of bass to keep the gills from stunting, the gills just are gigantic. Imagine walking up on a crystal clear, weed filled lake and spooking a school of dinner plate sized bluegills and seeing them fly off by the dozens. It's so awesome.

It was only about 45 degrees out or so with the windchill that day. Fished for a solid 20 or 30 minutes before the wind blew me off the lake and the rain started poring. I landed 3, a 12", a 13.5" (pictured), and a 18",  and lost a decent one near shore that I estimate at 17"

Yeah it is a GREAT lake for numbers of largemouth. Most of them are small though 10-15". In 4 years of fishing this lake I have only caught 3 fish 5 pounds and maybe a dozen 4 pounders. I did catch a 4 pounder that day though that is on another camera! I actually caught it in the inlet. (its a reservoir). it is a hike in lake that is probably why there are never more than 5-10 people fishing it and the bass will hit anything we even caught em on budweiser lures before. I fished all day and I caught the most, 65 largemouths 4 bluegill and I think mack caught about 50 largemouth and 5 bluegill. Mack once had a day in july when it was raining lightly he said he caught about 150 largemouth in one day from like 6 am to 3 pm, he said he was so tired of catching fish he just left. The slower day (there were 3 of us) I think we got 45 or 50 largemouth total from 2 pm till dark. It was extremely cold and windy though, hence the sweater which is my fishing sweater ;D. I recommend this lake to any new bass anglers in my area on another website I am a member of, and trust me anyone that goes there can catch bass. The day I caught 65 mack showed a couple kids how to fish one of them had never caught a bass before so mack gave him a senko and a hook and showed him how to fish it and he caught 3 right away. The only draw backs are body contact is prohibited as in most colorado reservoirs, icefishing is prohibited as in most colorado reservoirs, and there are a bunch of rattlesnakes around. You see em almost every trip up there. This is probably the only lake I know of in colorado where the bass will hit huge lures, probably because of the monstrous bluegill :P

it was thin. It was ~ 19.5" and barely 3.5 lbs. we have no pelagic baitfish in any lakes out here. also it was spawned out (female). The bass are also overpopulated since ute water owns the lake they don't want anyone to keep anything because the fish guts would contaminate the water :P or so they say. They also won't let CDOW touch that lake because of their poor record around here, also our CDOW could not stock these bass anywhere anyway because we are west of the continental divide and you can't stock warmwater species west of the continental divide because of the endangered squawfish that no one (except the feds) wants in the colorado river. It is truly a different fishing world out here than the world you guys in the north and north east know.
I guess the overpopulation of largemouth bass, the catch and release regulation, the no body contact rule, the hike in, the tremendous plankton base, and the tremendous insect base also make it so the bluegills in this lake don't stunt and are absolute monsters.

As I'm sure lots of you have read the thread in the general discussion forum and are wondering what the gunnison river gorge looks like and what the trip is all about. Now most of these pics of fish are from small fish and I don't have the pictures of the sheer vertical canyon walls and i don't have the pictures of the biggest rapids so you really aren't getting a true experience by looking at these pictures, but it at least will give you an idea.

Gunnison gorge trip was canceled due to technicalities. I'm hittin' my big bluegill lake tonight instead, to lessen the disappointment. Might be anywhere from 1-3 weeks for pics, so I'm just gonna guess 2 weeks to hit the average :P

Well, got pics of 2 bluegill 11" and 12" respectively, both next to tape measure. My dad did catch a 13 1/4" bluegill but it was pitch black by then and our cheap throw-away camera wouldn't work. I got the 11" next to a tape measure on a camera that is done now and the 12" is on another one that is just starting. Pretty amazing I can go out there on demand and get bluegills this size. Of course with a little work anyone can get them in this lake. They just aren't too tough. I should get the pics posted up by next tuesday sometime. They don't develope pics at our local store during weekends and they take 3-5 days to develope them, so next tuesday is a conservative estimate of when you should see some pics! (not tuesday june 28th, the next tuesday)
I'm going out walleye fishing today!

Thanks. These pics were before we started using flies last week too, we've been getting 10-20 per evening a piece like that. Our biggest gill so far this year is 13.5" caught last night by my dad's friend.

I know that this isn't believable but... hey its true. They also are pure strain bluegill in case anyone wants to know. If you don't believe me about that...I'm sorry I have no way to prove it. When the local biologist calls them bluegills and says they are pure strain I think that's good enough.

Today they started allowing belly boats on the reservoir :( I wonder if the fishery will last? It's been a party for 5 or 6 years with the big bluegill now ever since it was opened. I am seeing more and more dead bluegills on the banks and gills stripped of their filets  :'(

I didn't go this evening because I'm getting ready for the weekend but I should hit this lake a couple more times until ice season. When my rivers are clear that's where I'm at.

If any of you besides papermouth are in the area I'd be willing to show you guys this fishery.

Remember where I was catching a bunch of nice 16-22" icefishing this season (including a 25")? I had never had much success open water fishing it but decided to try it. I caught 5 including the 3 pictured. I also lost 4 right at my feet as I was in the pontoon boat. The fish pictured are 19", 17", and 15". The other 2 I caught and put back were 16" and 18". Not too bad of a day I guess for a lake.

If my rivers don't clear up here soon I ain't gonna catch jack for trout this year >:( what a runoff we have had, we needed it though after the past few years having such a bad drought. I did go to the gunnison over the weekend to fish a spot that's hammered, and the water was terribly high but we did get nice fish in the 13-22" range. I am going to be entering a pitiful 16" rainbow in the tourney shortly, I caught it before I caught a 20" rainbow and I was out of pics when I got the 20 incher  which sucks. We also landed lakers, splake, brookies, cutthroats, and cuttbows along with the rainbows and browns. It was slow though for that area.

GET CLEAR AND LOWER GUNNISON AND COLORADO!!!

I'll have some more pics coming shortly!
