Anybody softwater fishing still?
« on: Jan 04, 2006, 10:21 PM »
Wondering if I am the only person that is still open water fishing this time of year, or did everyone migrate over to IS?

A lot of people up here are almost thinking about it, with the warm spells and rain.   :P

Yeah, Ive been watching the weather for up north.   Im going to come up end of next month for a week, if not two.    I have to keep taking time off otherwise I will stack too much up.

Guess nobody is soft water fishing.

Not much at all... Same for MHF.  But go figure, IS gets traffic year-round.

I got a couple walleye rivers that are wide open right now. I'm seriously thinking about drifting some live bait in the canoe, and leaving the ice auger in the garage. The great lakes tribs are all but blown out.
On the lighter side, I picked up a brand new Penn 5500 for 49.00 the other day.
Maybe the stripers will run up the Hudson soon??????  :):)

We have been fishing soft water all winter so far. Just one time our river ice up but it was enough to stay very long.

I have been for a long time now. In the last week i have caught several steelhead in a local river and lots of dollies and rainbows in our lakes. All of our lakes are open which is ok because fly fishing beats the pants off ice fishing.
I've never been to heaven, but i have fished  in  Alaska.

Cool,  I may be heading out for some Rainbows/brook trout tomorrow, probably not though.    Im sort of tired out of trout.     Might try a deep hole of a local lake for some winter walleyes or maybe a few channel cats.
