There's some good bass and gills both. Also some ok perch. It's not as good as past years, but It's still fun. Cattail (troutmeadows) is pretty awesome as well as the middle pond in Three Forks.

Couple times a year. It's nice and close. Only go when I can get out for an hour. Fish are always easy to find and eager to bite. No real size but steady action. I imagine it's the same during soft water too. Seen decent size lm bass caught during summer but never really tried for them.

I have caught a lot of 2lbs Largemouths this year out of the local ponds. Nothing too huge. My boy caught one pushing 4lbs out of Cattail. We only had the one day of outstanding bluegill fishing. Definitely caught some nice ones though. Out in Three Forks around Father's Day I caught a BIG gillie.  By far the largest I have ever seen around these parts of Montana. Two hands...

Not nearly as much as I would like. What I know of the ponds is they produce some bigger fish. I've caught some nice bass out of there. The middle pond has been kind to me. The east pond I haven't fished since I was a kid. I see a lot of people out there tho. The far west pond is loaded with carp, and I have heard a few LARGE Largemouth. A fish that would have been a state record, died during winter kill about 5 seasons back. And as I previously stated, I caught my biggest gillie to date from this state out of the middle pond. That was this year around father's day. Two hands. Reminded me of Minnesota gills. Cool thing, since I wasn't supposed to be out fishing, I released it instead of filleting it.

Honestly, our local ponds need a few population control guys. In order to have nice bluegill consistently, you need to manage the little guys that end up stunting a whole population. I am all for keeping those little guys as they make great bait!!! Obviously not live here in our state, but dead and as cutbait.

My best luck with bluegill are with small jigs. Crawler chunks or meal worms. I've been tinkering with plastics a little and have had a couple around 7 inches take. I find that the Artificials allow you to have the smaller ones hit but not strip your hook. Trout magic split tail worms work great. They come in a pack of 3 jigs and 6 worms. I have caught bass with them too. Maybe this coming up weekend we can meet up and I will show you a few of my setups.

Going to try to make it out to either the Mall Pond or Cattail today. Great weather for bigger gills to take.

Only spent a little time out yesterday. Still managed a couple of decent largemouth. One 14.5 inches and the other 12.75 inches. I have more time today to really work over the pond. Going to Cattail as I have developed a strategy on that pond. I tend to have pretty good luck out there.

It's all good. Hopefully by this weekend, some cooler temps will roll in and get the bite going good again. I am really wanting to float a raft into the back side of the weed bed in the south bay at Cattail. It's difficult to fish from shore, but I always manage a couple of decent bass and some nicer gills. I would guess that if a person could fish by casting to it from behind, rather than over the top, they could have tremendous success.
Once it ices over, I will show that pond no mercy.
