Day off from trolling
« on: Jun 08, 2020, 10:19 AM »
Have had a very difficult spring finding some quality coldwater fish. Couple of absolute skunk days and really nothing notable for the entire spring. Few short salmon and lakers. So decided to fish for some smallmouth to finally feel what it is like to catch some fish! Nothing special but we managed about 20 before noon time. Bit windy yesterday but still managed some.

Nice change of pace, and some nice smallmouth. Well done!

Are you mainly fishing the same lake for cold water fish, or trying different lakes with the same results?

Good thinking.  Easy early-June smallies are always a treat after 6-8 weeks of trolling.  Schoolie stripers too!

I fish all over the place but last year I did better, it's just this spring seems to have been really slow for me. My home lake is Sunapee so I'm there most, but also the CT lakes in Pittsburg as I'm there at least once a month, sometimes more.

Schoolie stripers too!

Yep, I'm trying to tap into them next.

Those schoolies are a blast on a fly rod, if you're so inclined.  That's what I use anyway most of the time.

Yup, that's the plan!
