I am new to this site, and Iceshanty.com.  I started tying my own flies a few years ago, about the same time I built my first fly rod.  It is very rewarding to catch fish on something you built.

Been tying and flyfishing since I was 10. I'm 46 now. You can never have enough flies or fly boxes.

The problem is......I can't fill my boxes fast enough! :D

When you start you have to be patient and do it slow kind of like driving but once you get use to it it becomes nature. I now can tie quality flies real fast while watching television and talking to someone 8)
I've never been to heaven, but i have fished  in  Alaska.

Now this is a real fun and creative aspect of fishing!

I've been doing it for 17 years now.  I took a couple classes through our local Trout Unlimited and have been doing it ever since.  Also comes in handy for tying jigs and feathered treble hooks for Pop-r's.

Now, how many fly ties?   :rotflol:

Oh, and don't ever let your wife find those size 20 midge hooks in her nylon stockings.  Whoa!

I tied for forty years 'till my fingers wouldn't work on the #16 to #20 nymphs anymore. I'd like to teach someone else so they could supply 'em for me. ;D
