Mounting Downriggers
« on: Aug 14, 2006, 11:16 AM »
Hello all -

I have two cannon minimags that I want to mount on my 17 foot, outboard and am looking for suggestions.

The minimags came with swivel bases which are mounted on a 6 foot long board.  The board had 2 cannon mounts underneath for mounting on the gudgeon (?) of an aluminum boat.

I don't want to do a permanent mount as we use the boat for skiing, tubing, etc and the kids are up the boat ladder and jumping off the sterns - so I want to be able to remove the board/swivel mounts.

What I'm thinking is - fabricating brackets to U-bolt under the stern cleats to hold the board.  I have to have the board high enough so it does not interfere with the O/B when in the raised position.

I welcome any other ideas???
