KC  try a  under wing of  bright pink with purple on top ......just a  guess

I have used pink and purple together and plan pink. But they don't work as well as the purple and black.

Here's a few I have tied for the next trip up to the SR. I made up the jig heads using white beads and then painting them.




are you new York salmon river  guys allowed to use lead jig heads ? if so i got a few patterns that may help you out let me know if so there legal? i will post them.

rubber tailled stone fly


red and black stone fly jig


purple and rabbit flash jig


orange and green jig head with black rabbit.

 

orange and white jig head with crystal chenille body and glo bug yarn tail..

some of our black stone nymph are warp in blue copper wire? been also dying to make a blue and black jig head with a black rabbit body ?

I messed with them a bit. Just not something I use much. Better suited for salt water I think. I quit tying for a bit. Building rods at the moment.

Well... I don't mess with them but I have a friend that ties them for trolling the Finger lakes and Ontario. They're probably not like the smaller versions you're thinking of, but "tube" style flies none the less. He uses them behind dodgers/flasher rigs. Pretty simple but very effective.

size 12   Tied in reverse. I make them in sections. Get plenty of steelies on them. My thought is that bugs crawl forward and fish grab them by the head. My hookup rate went up 50%. :thumbup_smilie:

My wife worked for a jeweler and they make pins with colored copper wire. That gives the body a nice sink rate :thumbup_smilie:
