Title: Any fishing near Mahnomen?

Greeting

I am driving my wife and her mother to Mahnomen in August and I would rather spend my time fishing than sitting in the casino.  Is there anywhere near there where I can cast for jack or bass?

Detroit lakes about 30 miles south has some great muskie fishing but the best bite is at night.  There are a couple of guys that guide on detoit and  pelican lake.  There are a bunch of lakes around DL.
