schooling perch
« on: Oct 27, 2017, 01:57 PM »
Just took a walk around the lake where my camp is. Came upon one of the inlets. There is a pool on the lake side of the culvert. It was filled with small perch, from 2" to 5". the pod of fish was I would say 10'wide, 12-16' long and 3' deep. On the other side of the road there was a pod of them 4'x6'x1'. There were thousands upon thousands of small perch.
Never have I seen this before.

How did you end up doing on Raquette or fourth?  I went to the Adirondacks for the first time this last summer.  We jigged for perch for a few minutes and caught 2 perch.  They were both impressive. We didnt fish for them much because we didnt have a means to cook and clean them that day.   We trolled the rest of the weekend.  First raquette with black/gold jointed rapalas off inline boards was great for the small mouth.  Then we hit fourth for some salmon action.  I caught 2 Landlocks in very short order.  I would love to get back up there.  Its great to turn off the electronics and just enjoy nature
