Water temp where you fish?
« on: Apr 23, 2018, 03:43 PM »
My biggest pond on the property is 55 on the surface today down to 18 inches here in northern Indiana. Have't been able to get out on a public lake yet. I was surprised it was that high as I figured it would have been closer to low 50's.

Was nice and toasty/sunny part of the day but now in the afternoon it's become cloudy with gusty winds. Air temp is 66 but it feels colder.

How about you?

The lower end of the Poultney River was 42° yesterday morning.   ;D

A small lake I fished today was 42F, still had some small patches of ice along one shore.

Lake I fished Sunday was 55 to 58 with the walleye biting good up trying to spawn. Good tasting though.

Yeah out in central Wyoming some lakes are just getting the ice off where others are hanging at 48 degrees while others are warming up faster than I thought with the weird weather this spring.

Trolling Lake Champlain the other day we found a pocket of 41deg water near shore.  We caught 2 lakers on 2 passes through there and missed a 3rd on the 3rd pass.  Further out from shore it was still only 34.5deg.

Wow that's quite a temperature differential. Any idea what would cause that?

Northwest wind all week had pushed warmer water in to this particular rocky shoreline.  I decided to troll that shoreline hoping to find something like that.

Makes sense.
