Great that everyone's filling their freezers, just got back from a Missouri week of bowhunting and visiting good freinds in Iowa. Wasn't planning the trip at all and it went better than expected. Buddy got a 155" buck and we both had multiple encounters with good bucks. Let the good times roll.

Woodcock and pheasant.
Really miss hunting pheasant.
In the 60's and 70's we had tons of birds.
Even into the 80's.

Lack of cover is the deal.....farms all plant crops right next to each one.  No more hedge rows or fallow areas,  I actively cut to keep young thick cover for the Grouse and Woodcock.  The Pheasants are unfortunately pretty much put and take  anymore.

Yea, not worth the effort.
Especially as I don't have a bird dog these days.
Of course, I can't even remember the last time I even saw a pheasant in WNY.

I can buy chicken at Tops.

Shot a 6 pt last tues afternoon. He got up 4 times in the next 2.5 hrs moving approx. 20 yds each time. Put him up again just before dark and backed off. Found next morn. Still warm inside but had a bad smell. Arrow hit liver and lung and maybe pancreas. Jay and I skinned and de boned and let sit in cooler for a day. Smell was stronger than we ever had noticed in the past so we threw it away. A sad story on my 102 bow kill.

Nice bucks Bruce and Scott, and congratulations to everyone else that has posted.

Got a nice 8 pointer on my 2016 Ohio public land hunt with my recurve, nice to get back there after missing last year. Passed several bucks in NY before I left that were inside 10 yds: 1 spike, a 4, 3 6's and a small 8; now trying to get another good one during gun season with my bow.
